Essie Jain has her 2nd album out called 'The Inbetween' this very week. Well it's actually been out for a while in America on Ba Da Bing but it surfaces over here on Leaf with a couple of bonus tracks to appease those who've patiently been waiting for it to arrive. Mind you in this day and age what with downloading everything creating a 'wanting it here and now' culture I can't imagine that many folks will wait. Still you can live in hope that there are people out there wanting this. I'd like to think there are as it sounds like a very good album indeed. More immediate than her last album she proves herself to be a clearly capable songwriter. In the press release it says fans of Sufjan Stevens and Elliott Smith will like this. I can also slightly liken it to that magical Larkin Grimm album about it as she has a certain way about her though she's definitely less feral thah ole Larkin. So there's elements of folk on here as well so it's gonna appeal to a wide range of folks who enjoy a good female singer songwriter album. Lots of piano on it which is appealing to me greatly as I'm starting to feel fried after this week. Yes it's been awful here thanks for asking
