9/10 gbar Customer review, 10th May 2017
Three brothers (Van (guitar, lead vocals), Lain (drums, vocals) and Jennings Caney (bass, organ, vocals)) makes up Pontiak, who've reissued their second full-length Sun On Sun, in which fuse together leftfield folk-rock with elements of stoner, psychedelica and classic Americana. The opener "Shell Skull" combines the influences of Comets On Fire and early Fleetwood Mac and creates a wonderful 4-minute dose of 70s psychedelia. The double bill of cosmic bliss "White Hands" and "White Mice" blends the repetitive guitar and bass of Americana before the second half has slow-burning stoner grooves that will reverberate in your head for a long while afterwards. Full to the brim with ethereal, warm and fuzzy psychedelia, ‘Sun on Sun’ encapsulates the power-rock trio clearly in their prime with their own take on contemporary Americana.
