I only know about that koduro thing because one of the bands on this Hollertronix #9 12", Buraka Som Sistema, did a track with MIA called 'The Sound of Kuduro' so in case you've not heard of it before it's basically eclectro-inflected hip-hop that's big in Portugal, I think it originated in Angola or somewhere though. Buraka Som Sistema get the majority of the tracks here, in fact it almost qualifies as their own EP.. I like the stuff of theirs I've heard before and here they collaborate with Diplo and Skream on the first two tracks to fine effect, the Skream one in particular is really ace, the mix of their sound and uptempo beats with Skream's trademark bass is intriguing and perhaps shows yet another pie for dubstep to reach it's terrifyingly elongated Nosferatu fingers into.. Top off with some X-Files synths to taste. I'm not massively keen on the DJ Znovia track and Radioclit (cringing lol) basically just speeds up Fischerspooner's classic 'Emerge', bizarrely, but this release is well worth your time just for the three Buraka joints. Yeah, joints.
