Isobel Campbell & Mark Lanegan are surely the contemporary devil & angel of post Lee 'n' Nancy country/torch song balladery. 'Come on Over (Turn Me On)' is a handsome piece of brooding, moody schlock, authentically done. His gruff baritone vs. her husky honey pie'd tones is immensely appealing and the whole thing comes off retaining a bit of soul & passion in an ever nostalgic plagiarism obsessed market. She is starting to look a little bit like a stoned Britt Ekland or summat though. Just imagine going from simpering church going Scots B&S to bourbon swilling, Malboro devouring darklord Lanegan. That's gonna seriously fuck up your body clock, hanging round in spit & sawdust bars, bareknuckle fighting with bears & doing tequila slammmers till dawn.
