Mary Epworth and the Jubilee Band next. This is a cool little 7" that blends a triumphant folk-ish female lyric with a pumping brass band backing to make a really sweet pop tune. The closest comparison I can muster is mid period Beatles crossed with a more grounded Abba! It's a little like 'Being For The Benefit of Mr Kite' with perhaps the lady from Bodies of Water stomping jubilantly down the street with a big flag hollering a call to arms standard. But it's got the feel of a lost 60s classic, it feels so well rounded and familiar, comforting & homely and has the essence of an alternative dimension smash. I want everyone to hear 'Saddle Song', it should rule the airwaves! Then again I was brought up on Steeleye Span.........Ltd 7"...
