The Gown man has got a new LP in hot off the heels of his fancy, poster-bearing 'On the River' CD which I very liked. This one's got its fair share of fanciness in the packaging too, what with it being all silkscreened and that. 'Wandering Glory' is along similar lines to that last release, making me wonder if this might be what an American Alexander Tucker might sound like; experimental guitar work combine with his (often processed) Will Oldham/Bill Callaghan style vocals for a totally unique sound, somehow managing to be both traditional and forward-looking yet completely natural. Like an artifact from some alternate musical timeline or something. No wonder Thurston the gangly alternagod rates him.
