The Week That Was is Peter Brewis's "solo" project, following brother David's fine School of Language effort. These boys seem to bleed a very distinctive sound when pressed to make music. This 7" single, 'The Airport Line' has a 'Running Up That Hill' drum rhythm, dreamy, pensive lyrics, lots of glimmering cinematic sensations and some quality string action. This is classicist pop beamed down from another era, utterly timeless & definitely aimed at the more mature music fan. I hear everything from 10CC to Colin Verncombe's Black but overall I smell the classy aroma of Field Music all over this beautiful slice of decadent rolling art-pop.
