Ikonika next. I believe she's a lass and you can really tell because her brand of odd 8-bit "dubstep" is awash with gentle electronic experimentation, it has a very feminine intuitive quality, like she's playing with her machines rather than aggresively pushing them, kinda seeing what they can do together. 'Millie' is a wonky stroller of a tune with what sounds like Sweep from the Sooty show arguing intermittently with a ponderous bass line and some awkwardly stepped beats whilst all these mellow D'n'B/electronica shades amble around elesewhere, sweet keys caressed whilst lots of abstract hoover noises & synth swirls twist like audio tendrils round your head. She's definitely got the Flying Lotus bug this lady. The flip 'Direct' is pretty cool too, more Darkstar/Zomby 8-bit trilling whilst some of the synth washes are almost modern classical in their execution. her sound is both intimate and worldly wise, playful yet slightly forboding. It certainly shakes off the limited shackles of actual dubstep and blends many sympathetic styles into a poignant, refreshing mixture. Nice one.
