The World is at War is the name of this CD and The World at War is the name of the series narrated by Laurence Olivier, just thought that might need clearing up before we start.. Though both are well worth your time I've got to say. This Brothers of The Occult Sisterhood album just has the one improvisatory track, clocking in at a fairly mammoth 40 minutes. There's a fair bit in the mix here with the track divided into several quite different movements, we go from clattering tribal drummy bits to church organs and distant voice samples to ambient Indian-style dronings to feedback squalls to the beginning and back again. I get bits ranging from a quieter Heavy Winged to Toru Takemitsu's more avant-garde soundtrack stuff from this, it's all over the bloody place! It's a shame I can't listen to this more extensively rather than being sat here with the fast-forward button like some kind of ADDJ but that's the way love goes.
