Spartak are here to yellow us all up with their new single 'Sunstrokes' with its little yellow cover and its little yellow-suggestive name. It's a good job it's not cack because otherwise the wee wee jokes would be flowing (tee hee) by now. The lead track is a droney, floaty electronic number with pretty little pulses flying about the place and rather lovely cymbal-heavy drumming that sounds like the bang bangs are distant like my girlfriends get after a few weeks and the shimmery shimmers are up in yo'face like my mum wanting me to fix her PC. There's a fair bit of Hood in the mix here, that's for sure. The couple of times the vocals come in they're very reminiscent of Mark Stewart and it sounds like The Pop Group are a bit of an influence in general, particularly towards the end when the volume amps up and the wailing, indecipherable howls get drowned in the waves like the man's fallen out of his space dingy and into the sun. You get one more original track into the bargain plus three remixes by the likes of Part Timer, Cleptoclectics and Tomasz Bednarczyk. Good ass shit, looking forward to the other release involving these fellows this week.. There are only a hundred of these bad boys and we've just got a few so be quick!
