Got a various artists compilation called Audible Geography on Room 40 that immediately hits the spot with opener 'Dundee Law' from Eric La Casa. A fantastic sound like a swarm of digital wasps sweeps across the room and then the howl of a freezing arctic wind. Then Stephen Vittiello serves up some field recordings of birds and traffic. Oohh a cockeral just did a big cockadoodledoo. It's a right old birdfest which makes me happy. One for the Chris Watson fans. The collection also features tracks from Lee Patterson, Asher, Jeph Jerman, Toshiya Tsunoda, Philip Samartzis, Marc Behrens, James Webb, Andrea Polli and Francisco Lopez. It's way out there Musiqe concrete, electroacoustic, ambient, minimal, detailed, adventerous electronic music that explores the extremes and subtlties of the genre with some quality sound design. If you're into this kind of stuff then I'd totally recommend it but if not then stay clear as it's probably a difficult listen.
