You don't have to mad to be in the Dagger Brothers they reckon. But it does help! Chortle! I know little about them but they produce what sounds like sinister new wave cabaret that sounds like Mike Patton doing Japan, then sideways gothic electro pop, a sleazy euro-trancey number, an off-kilter electro ballad, all with deeply comical camp lyrics. This is the kind of entertainment I demand in my local pub of a Friday night accompanied by strippers in Drag! I really don't know what to make of this CD, it's both terrible & great at the same time & I think that's the whole point! There's some seriously warped touches & a Cardiacs/Scaramanga Six approach to bizarre pomposity that does it for me, plus the frankly alarmingly funny lyrical arrangements. I'd love to see how they take this out on the road. 9 tracks, mostly brief vignettes. If yr curious & have a funny bone, check it out!
