Sunny Day Sets Fire I've only heard snippets of before so it's a pleasure to hear their album 'Summer Palace' They manage to sound like they've quite a colourful, melodic bunch full of psych pop tricks up their fat velvet sleeves. It's kind of akin to how I expected MGMT to sound when I saw them ripping off The Mighty Boosh on their record sleeves & videos. It's quite accessible stuff really, strummy, harmony stuffed, jangly, euphoric....bits on one tune for instance remind me of great bands like The Smiths & Teardrop Explodes but overall I'd say they're just another set of chancers looking back to 60s pop and painting it in the bright modern colours of today's technology. If you like really well written retro indie pop with a slight prog/psychedelic bent then you may well just want to adopt these guys as yr new poster boys for they sure know how to spin out a top toe tapper. If yr after something that may raise an eyebrow then I'd give up now. Every hook on here has a familiar story to tell!.....CD
