Coldharbourstores
Dearly Devoted

Coldharbourstores have been churning them out recently after a long lay off between their first album proper 'More Than The Other' (2002) and it's follow up 'Wilderness' (2018). 'Dearly Devoted' is the band's third LP in three years and is again produced by Graham Sutton (Bark Psychosis). Here we have an album of soaring indie-pop which would appear to be the group's most ambitious and emotional record to date.

Coma World
Coma World

A project launched by drummer Maxwell Hallett - better known as Betamax from The Comet Is Coming and Soccer96 - and Speaker’s Corner Quartet’s Pete Bennie, Coma World announces its self-titled debut album. A rich, textured mixture of dub, electronica and woozy jazz, it has one foot in London's jazz revival but is also reminiscent of electronic music greats like Andy Weatherall (RIP).

Active in the early Nineties and signed to the legendary Sarah Records and K Records, jangle-pop band Heavenly emerged from the ashes of key C86 movers Talulah Gosh and were active until the tragic suicide of drummer Mathew Fletcher. On ‘A Bout De Heavenly, all of the band’s glorious singles have been gathered up.

Higher Intelligence Agency
Freefloater

A remastered reissue of ‘Freefloater’, the 1995 sophomore album from Bobby Bird’s Higher Intelligence Agency. With this new edition overseen by Stefan Betke (Pole), the overhaul has revealed previously hidden depths and details to 'Freefloater', giving new life to what was already a minor classic in the IDM genre.

Jamie xx
In Colour (Remastered)

'In Colour' is the debut album by Jamie xx - he of the Mercury Music Prize winning band The xx. Over the years Jamie xx has worked with and re-worked the likes of Radiohead, Alicia Keys and Florence & The Machine, but his crowning glory must be the reworking of Gil Scott Heron’s 'I’m New Here' album. 'In Colour' will please fans of his collaborative efforts and includes 'Girl', 'Sleep Sound' and 'Loud Places'. It was released in 2015 and has now been newly remastered for 2020.

Jay Dee aka J Dilla
Welcome 2 Detroit (20th Anniversary Edition)

Despite his sad passing some years ago, J Dilla’s beats still sound fresh and full of life, and listeners are still discovering the majesty of his catalogue. Welcome 2 Detroit was the debut full-length of J Dilla / Jay Dee, first released in 2001. These tracks swing, thud and groove: the man was a master.

Joanna Newsom
Have One On Me

It had been three years since Joanna Newsom’s previous album, Ys. To make up for this gap, she made a triple album, Have One On Me, essentially one single album for each year that she missed. Despite its lengthy sprawl, it was more accessible than its predecessor, drawing comparisons to the likes of Joni Mitchell and Kate Bush, albeit with Joanna's indelible stamp. It should definitely be thought of as an essential addition to any record collection.

Morganistic
Fluids Amniotic

Morganistic is one of Luke Slater’s lesser-known aliases and one under which he has, to date, only released a couple of records. The only Morganistic LP was 'Fluids Amniotic' in 1994, a techno album noted for its darkness and minimalism. This reissue comes after Slater found the source DAT and Reel-to-Reel tapes. Remastered by Matt Colton.

Porridge Radio
Every Bad

Heavily tipped newcomers Porridge Radio announce their debut studio album Every Bad, following exposure from BBC 6 Music and Radio X among others. Formed around an initial solo project by now-lead singer Dana Margolin and her bedroom-composed tracks, their thoughtful, DIY indie approach has made them one of the most exciting new bands in Britain.

Roky Erickson & The Aliens
The Evil One

Roky Erickson is one of music's most enduring 'outsider' artists, cultivating an American version of psych-rock with his bands the 13th Floor Elevators, the Aliens and later Okkervil River as his backing band. 'The Evil One' was recorded after the time Erickson spent in a mental institution, and saw a version of Erickson led by straight-forward, plaintive rock 'n' roll heavy on horror-flick imagery. Originally released in 1981, it's now being reissued by Light In The Attic.

RZA
Ghost Dog: The Way Of The Samurai (Original Motion Picture Score)

‘Ghost Dog: The Way Of The Samurai (Original Motion Picture Score)’ was the first film score by RZA. The Wu-Tang Clan man mixes funky beats, well-chosen samples and dark, foreboding hip-hop here. This is the LP’s first release outside of Japan, the country where it was exclusively released in 1999. 'Ghost Dog' features, of course, other members of Wu-Tang Clan.

Sufjan Stevens & Timo Andres
The Decalogue

It will be of no surprise to anyone who has heard his various albums that Sufjan Stevens would go on to score a ballet. His music has the dexterity and lightness of touch to successfully soundtrack such a thing and here is his debut effort made available to the public for the first time. It has been performed by pianist Timo Andres, a Brooklyn performer who has already collaborated with the likes of Kronos Quartet and Philip Glass.

The Fall
Dragnet

The second album from The Fall gets the reissue treatment here. Dragnet, recorded in 1979, established the routine to which Mark E. Smith would indefinitely adhere; new music and new members. In contrast to Live At The Witch Trials, Dragnet features decidedly muddy production, setting a precedent for future albums. Out on CD and vinyl LP from Castle Music and Sanctuary.

The Magnetic Fields
69 Love Songs

If you wanted to make an incredibly long album and you figured 100 songs would be too many what would be the next number you'd pick? Anyway, Stephen Merritt did a ridiculous thing and wrote 69 indie pop songs about love and actually managed to pull it off. These are songs that had to be eccentric and endearing, which they are.

The Pretty Things
Parachute (50th Anniversary Edition)

‘Parachute’ was the fifth album by The Pretty Things. It was originally released in 1970 and followed the band’s masterpiece ‘S.F. Sorrow’ - a hard act to follow and one made more difficult by the departure of original guitarist Dick Taylor. However, ‘Parachute’ was a critical success, stylistically reaching between Badfinger, The Who, The Moody Blues and The Sweet.

Various
Daisies (Sedmikrásky)

A milestone in Czech cinema’s new wave movement, 1966’s surreal ‘Sedmikrásky’ (translated as ‘Daisies’) was bolstered by a similarly striking score from Jiří Šlitr and Jiří Šust. A sonic blur ranging from musique concréte to brass band music, the soundtrack is now reissued by - who else? - Finders Keepers.

Strum & Thrum: The American Jangle Underground 1983-1987

Brooklyn-based independent label Captured Tracks breaks into the world of compilations with the aim of exhuming forgotten or obscure music from the Seventies to the Nineties that has informed the label’s aesthetic. ‘Strum & Thrum: The American Jangle Underground 1983-1987’ explores the DIY rock scenes of small cities and towns across the States during the mid-Eighties. Golden-age college rock fans, assemble!

Vorderhaus
Lights and Faces, Faces and Lights

One half of The Detox Twins, Mark Vorderhaus brings back his eponymous solo offshoot on Polytechnic Youth. ‘Lights And Faces, Faces And Lights’ is a moody, minimalist piece of synth-pop in the Kraftwerk mould, presented on 7” vinyl with an equally compelling B-side ‘Tanz Tanz Tanz Oder Ich Bin Verloren’.

Zdenek Liska
Malá morská víla (The Little Mermaid)

Finders Keepers reissues the breathtaking score from ‘Malá Morská Víla’, Karel Kachyna’s 1976 Czech film adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen’s ‘The Little Mermaid’. Composed by Zdenek Liska, ‘Malá Morská Víla’ is a striking soundscape of electronics and orchestral sounds, one which seems to predict the hauntology of Pram and Broadcast albums that emerged decades later.
