Angelo Badalamenti
Twin Peaks

This new vinyl edition of the Twin Peaks score has been pressed on ‘damn fine coffee’-coloured vinyl, an extremely Death Waltz Recording Company thing to do. Mind you, they’re a good label who do good records, and there are arguably few good-er records than Angelo Badalamenti’s acclaimed score for the original Twin Peaks. You probably know how this thing goes now - ethereal, loungey, Lynchian, peerless.

Barry Gray
UFO (Original Television Soundtrack)

Presented on double-lilac vinyl, this is the original soundtrack to short-lived television series ‘UFO’, the first-ever live-action series from Gerry and Sylvia Anderson - yes, the people behind ‘Thunderbirds’, ‘Captain Scarlet’ et al - and which aired between 1970 and 1973. Composed by inimitable Barry Gray with his trademark dramatics!

Beat Happening
We Are Beat Happening

Will you just look at this. The holy grail for fans of Beat Happening and fans of underground lo-fi pop in general. Beat Happening were pioneers of the lo-fi and indie-pop movement and now you can get all six of their albums packaged up in a 7LP set with a 40 page book and liner notes from like minded soul Lois Maffeo. Remortgage your house. Do whatever you have to do (legally) to get this.

Bob’s Burgers
The Bob’s Burgers Music Album

The soundtrack to top cartoon Bob’s Burgers, presented in full (that’s 112 short songs by the way)! And what’s more, The Bob’s Burgers Music Album also features the ‘Bob’s Buskers’ series, which finds artists like St. Vincent, Stephin Merritt and The National covering some of those songs. 2CD and 3LP editions, plus a super-elaborate limited edition box-set version that also features sheet music, posters, stickers, a book… On Sup Pop.

Cabaret Voltaire
Methodology '74 / '78. Attic Tapes

A box set that tracked the early development of Cabaret Voltaire, Methodology '74/'78: The Attic Tapes was originally released back in 2002 and gave fascinating insight into the evolution of one of Britain’s most important bands, right from their genus in 1974 manipulating tape recorders and sounds in their Sheffield attic. Now, the collection is given a box set release on vinyl for the first time, spanning seven discs of clear wax.

David Firth
Umbilical World

David Firth is a British animator probably best known for 'Salad Fingers', a creepy little short that was passed around my secondary school like a filthy rumour. Umbilical World is a retrospective of the last 13 years of his work, collected as one horrifying and alluring feature length. Also features a making of and audio commentary.

Eric Serra
Léon (Musique Du Film De Luc Besson)

A vinyl version of Eric Serra’s pointed and emotional soundtrack to Luc Besson’s beloved and controversial 1994 action thriller movie Léon, starring Jean Reno, Gary Oldman and a young Natalie Portman. Available for the first time in LP form, it's presented over four sides of vinyl and released on Wagram Records.

Florence + The Machine
Lungs (10th Anniversary Edition)

Does Florence And The Machine’s debut LP Lungs hold up a decade on from its release? Only one way to find out I guess. As tenth anniversary editions go this new pressing of Lungs is fairly low-key - just some new colours on the vinyl this time around. For the cheap seats - Lungs is the one with ‘You’ve Got The Love’, ‘Dog Days Are Over’ and the definitely-lyrically-watertight ‘Kiss With A Fist’ on it.

Gene Clark
No Other

Originally released in 1974 to critical praise but little commercial impact, The Byrds’ founder Gene Clark poured his heart and soul - and quite a lot of his own money - into No Other, a massively ambitious and strikingly beautiful record spanning psychedelia, country, folk and soul. For its 45th anniversary, 4AD are re-issuing the re-mastered album on CD and LP, and also in a lavish box-set containing a myriad of alternate mixes and bonus tracks, a documentary film and extensive liner notes and essays.

Gong
Love From The Planet Gong: The Virgin Years 1973-75

Sound the Gong gong, this is a big one. Love From The Planet Gong: The Virgin Years 1973-1975 is centred around the four LPs that the legendary psychedeliacs released in that time (Flying Teapot, Angel’s Egg, You and Shamal), but there’s so very much more going on here. Across these 13 (!) CDs we get a plethora of concert recordings, Peel Sessions, bonus tracks and alternate mixes. Most of the tracks here are previously unreleased and all are rendered in the highest possible audio quality. Extensive liner notes, an illustrated lyric booklet and Daevid Allen’s hitherto-unseen artwork help to make Love From The Planet Gong: The Virgin Years 1973-1975 the definitive chronicle of one of what is arguably band’s greatest epoch.

Graeme Miller & Steve Shill
The Moomins: Winter Wunderland Edition

People of a certain age love the Moomins. It was the quaint Swedish children's television show about a gang of woodland creatures who looked something like hippopotamuses. Weirdly, the evocative, dreamy music was made in Leeds by a couple of punk-era musicians Graeme Miller & Steve Shill and Finders Keepers have already issued the soundtrack on vinyl to the joy of middle-aged dads everywhere. This version is a Winter Wunderland Edition which, without the benefit of further information, we presume is the same soundtrack in more 'wintery' sleeve art.

Happy Mondays
The Early EP's

Hey....sorted etc. Drug-addled but fooking influential Madchester posse Happy Mondays are re-issuing their early EPs on an LP box set. It contains the Forty Five, Freaky Dancin/The Egg, Tart Tart and 24 Hour Party People EPs all remastered and on different coloured vinyl. It's like a kaleidoscope of sounds and colours, man. Gonna cost you forty big ones. See ya down the Hacienda. #stillravin'.

Jason Williamson
Grammar Wanker: Sleaford Mods 2007–2014

Jason Williamson’s remarkable lyrics for Sleaford Mods, printed on the page rather than spat into your ears. Grammar Wanker collects together all the pieces from recent albums and singles, as well as highlights of early material dating back to 2007. Have fun counting all the mentions of the word ‘piss’!

Joanna Newsom
Have One On Me

It had been three years since Joanna Newsom’s previous album, Ys. To make up for this gap, she made a triple album, Have One On Me, essentially one single album for each year that she missed. Despite its lengthy sprawl, it was more accessible than its predecessor, drawing comparisons to the likes of Joni Mitchell and Kate Bush, albeit with Joanna's indelible stamp. It should definitely be thought of as an essential addition to any record collection.

Jóhann Jóhannsson
Retrospective I

His body is barely cold in the ground and yet the Retrospectives have started. This is a 7CD collection of the early works of Icelandic ace Jóhann Jóhannsson including a previously unreleased soundtrack to the documentary White Black Boy. It's a terrible thought to consider hoping for your favourite artists to die just so similar lavish retrospectives are produced.

John Williams
Star Wars: The Force Awakens (picture disc)

Think it’s fair to say pretty much everyone was excited in some way about the reviving of Star Wars. Now you can get John Williams’ grand(as ever) soundtrack on double picture disc. Now you can fill every moment in the Star Wars universe, without damaging that precious DVD, or your eyes for that matter

King Crimson
In The Court of The Crimson King (An Observation By King Crimson) [50th Anniversary Edition]

A 50th anniversary edition of one of rock music’s most iconic debut albums - not least for its iconic and unsettling artwork. King Crimson’s In The Court of The Crimson King was one of the first proper visions for progressive rock, and comes on a re-mastered 2xLP package featuring alternate takes of albums tracks on disc two, or a 3xCD + Blu-Ray set.

Konami Digital Entertainment
Metal Gear Solid (Original Video Game Soundtrack)

Here we have the first ever vinyl pressing of the soundtrack to Metal Gear Solid. The groundbreaking classic action adventure game was one of the first of its kind when it was released in 1998. The soundtrack matches the drama of the game with pulsating beats and percussion, brooding sounds and the odd curveball latin rhythm thrown in for good measure.

Kyle Dixon & Michael Stein
Stranger Things 3 (Original Score from the Netflix Original Series)

How much stranger can these things get? Season 3 of the 80s nostalgia fest that is 'Stranger Things' sees its cast of charming kids face their most terrifying enemy yet, the mall. Score provided of course by Kyle Dixon & Michael Stein who are responsible for the current deluge of new-wave synth music terrorising the world.

Low
Christmas

Now as much of a christmas standard as "Rocking Around The Christmas Tree" by Mel and Kim. Low are the perfect band to soundtrack Christmas, coming as they do from the snow-bound city of Duluth which glistens like Christmas half the year round. This short album combines lovely originals "Just Like Christmas" and "Long Way Around the Sea" with spooky versions of traditional song. It's the perfect soundtrack to my Christmas tradition of driving around the less salubrious neighbourhoods, checking out the houses all ridiculously lit up.

Opeth
In Cauda Venenum

All rise for Opeth. The Swedish prog-metal titans make it a baker’s dozen of studio LPs with the extremely Opeth-titled In Cauda Venenum (translation: Poison In The Tale). Given that this lot have long ploughed their own furrow it would be silly to compare this music to anyone other than Opeth themselves, so let’s just say that if you’ve dug their wending rock epics before then you’ll likely be able to get behind In Cauda Venenum. One notable feature of In Cauda Venenum is that it comes in both English- and Swedish-language versions.

Peter Mcconnell
Grim Fandango

iam8bit deliver another envinyled computer game soundtrack for the twentieth anniversary of lauded noir adventure Grim Fandango. A bit of a flop in 1998, the game has since accumulated the reputation it deserves, certainly due in no small part to the spirited lounge jazz of Peter McConnell’s soundtrack. Director’s Cut version recorded with real orchestra.

Popol Vuh
The Essential Album Collection Vol. 1

Prog rock-electronica outfit Popol Vuh probably reside in the shadows of Can and Neu when it comes to staking their claim as the most influential ‘70s band to come out of Germany in the 1970s. Nevertheless, they are still trailblazers when it comes to the use of the Moog synthesizer. They also hit it off with German filmmaker Werner Herzog, recording soundtracks to several classic films. 'The Essential Album Collection Vol. 1' includes; 'Affenstunde' (1970), 'Hosianna Mantra' (1972), 'Einsjäger & Siebenjäger' (1974), 'Aguirre' (1976), 'Nosferatu' (1978) 2LP.

Prince
1999 (Remastered)

Containing a whopping 35 previously unreleased recordings, the career-defining '1999' album of pop-rock royalty Prince is here re-issued. This super deluxe version also includes a live album, along with various other goodies which celebrate Prince's enormous worldwide impact - quintessential stuff for fans of the Minnesota-born pioneer.

Sufjan Stevens
Songs For Christmas

How nice it would be to live in Sufjan world. Each year around the festive season he'd gather round with friends to make a Christmas EP. He'll be there in a massive jumper singing away. Heartwarming. Well this tradition went on for a few years and now you can get all the yuletide fruits on this box set of all the songs. Sufjan's folky and melancholy tones are just perfect for Christmas listening. Let it sleet.

Terry Allen & The Panhandle Mystery Band
Pedal Steal + Four Corners

Straight from a simpler time, when crooks the public adored were still musicians and not politicians: Texas “outlaw” Terry Allen & The Panhandle Mystery Band’s 1985 Pedal Steal, remastered. For this weighty release, the folks at Paradise of Bachelors have added the first four of the man’s Four Corners radio plays on two bonus CD's as well. We'll let you fill in the obligatory yihaw yourself.

The Beatles
Abbey Road – 50th Anniversary Edition

Absolutely everything about The Beatles’ final album Abbey Road screams ‘iconic’ - the much-parodied artwork, the second half’s famous song suite, the top class contributions from all of the Fab Four (yes, even Ringo’s ‘Octopus’s Garden’...). In 2019, it gets the 50th anniversary re-mastering treatment. With the new stereo mix handled by Giles Martin at the famous itself, this re-issue comes in: standard CD; double CD; single, double or triple vinyl; or a lavish 4xCD box-set with hardcover book and Blu-Ray. Various versions include outtakes and demos.

The Beatles
The Singles Collection

A mouth-watering prospect for any Beatlemaniac, The Singles Collection contains all 23 UK-issued singles by The Beatles on 7” vinyl from ‘Love Me Do’ to Nineties-released ‘Free As A Bird’, complete with original B-sides and artwork from a different international territory assigned to each single. The Caretaker
Everywhere At The End Of Time - Stages 4-6

Leyland Kirby a.k.a., The Caretaker draws to a close the long, difficult and peculiar project of analogising musically the onset of dementia. Derived as ever from those moth-eaten old ballroom samples, these last stages depict an unstoppable surrender to the advance of a barely differentiated sonic murk.

The Cure
THE CURE: 40 LIVE - CURÆTION-25 + ANNIVERSARY

A choice of four DVD/BLU-RAY types of an extravaganza of the Cure-ness for all you long term followers and those smitten by their recent Glastonbury triumph. There's two different concerts. One is their Meltdown performance when they played one song of each of their thirteen studio albums and the other is their twenty nine song set at their 40th Anniversary concert at Hyde Park in front of 650000 adoring fans. So much the Cure here it will keep you going all winter.

The Go-Betweens
G Stands For Go-Betweens: The Go-Betweens Anthology - Volume 2

The second of two lovingly-compiled box sets from beloved Australian indie cult icons The Go-Betweens. Volume 2 of G Stands For Go-Betweens contains the three studio albums - Liberty Belle And The Black Diamond Express, Tallulah and 16 Lovers Lane - from the band’s glorious mid-career years, plus a previously unreleased double live album recorded in May 1987.

The Magnetic Fields
69 Love Songs

If you wanted to make an incredibly long album and you figured 100 songs would be too many what would be the next number you'd pick? Anyway, Stephen Merritt did a ridiculous thing and wrote 69 indie pop songs about love and actually managed to pull it off. These are songs that had to be eccentric and endearing, which they are.

The Pop Group
Y

Y by The Pop Group was their debut album, originally released in 1979. The post-punk band from Bristol were seen as pioneers of the genre. They mixed jazz, reggae and dub influences with punk to create something quite original. The band claim they were trying to mix Funkadelic with Captain Beefheart to see what happened.

Tool
Fear Inoculum

Arracka-tung-tung-tackka-nnka-nnka! Arrucky-tickan-tickan-tung… oh wait, sorry, we got our Korn and our Tool mixed up again. Thing is, you see, Tool have been away for so long now that we’d assumed them consigned to history - it’s now thirteen years since they released '10,000' Days, you know. Good to have them back though, especially when the band appear to have used their time away productively. Fifth studio LP Fear Inoculum is another set of baroque, stadium-sized prog-metal from The Thinking Man’s Primus.

Tracey Thorn
Tinsel and Lights

Twitter's Tracey Thorn made this Christmas album back in 2012 lending her rich sumptuous voice to seasonal themed songs written by the likes of Low, Joni Mitchell, Jack White and Ron Sexsmith as well as a couple of of originals. Freshly re-issued Christmas fayre with guest spots from Green Gartside and 'im indoors Ben Watt.

Ulver
Trolsk Sortmetall 1993 – 1997

Century Media press up a new edition of Ulver’s retrospective box-set Trolsk Sortmetall 1993-1997. The collection brings together the Norwegian group’s first three LPs and their debut demo Vargnatt. Also included are some bonus recordings of the band rehearsing what would eventually become their third album Nattens madrigal. Trolsk Sortmetall 1993-1997 acts as a neat summation of Ulver's black metal phase.

Nuggets: The Original Artyfacts From The First Psychedelic Era 1965-1968 (40th Anniversary Edition)

Lenny Kaye’s comp of 60s psych and garage singles originally appeared in 1972, and if anything has grown in importance as an overview of a well-defined golden era, when a sense of possibility abounded, and before everything got slick and serious. The 13th Floor Elevators, The Electric Prunes and The Seeds may be familiar names to many, and Count Five’s Psychotic Reaction has become a standard. The Nazz began Todd Rundgren’s career, and The Amboy Dukes foisted Ted Nugent on the world. But the one-offs and also-rans like The Knickerbockers and Mouse are as much fun. Styles range from proto-punk to baroque pop to Beatles pastiche, but it’s all bursting with joyous youthful vigour. Double LP reissue, with 27 tracks.

Peaky Blinders: Original Soundtrack (Series 1-5)

I'd like the job of music chooser on Peaky Blinders. First series just pick music from Nick Cave's Greatest Hits. Second series do the same but for PJ Harvey. And on... and on. Any band out there with a dirty, bluesy sound and a decent Spotify playlist stands a chance. They get more daring though as the series wear on and the thing is... it works.  The music, though repetitive, perfectly soundtracks the grim industrial wasteland the cast shag and murder their way through. This 3LP or 2CD collection puts together all music used in the five series so far so you can swoon and imagine yourself floating in those big watery Tommy Shelby eyes as you listen.

Killing Eve - Season One (Original Series Soundtrack)

Most of the soundtrack to Killing Eve - Season One is by Unloved, the cinematic supergroup led by DJ, producer and musician, David Holmes. There are other artists who contribute to give the perfect balance to the soundtrack such as Brigitte Bardot, The Troggs and Cigarettes After Sex who add some great stuff.

The Big Lebowski (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack)

The soundtrack to a properly classic film, The Big Lebowski, is brought to vinyl. As well as the excellent, bowling-hallucination-featuring cover, you get music from Captain Beefheart, Bob Dylan, Henry Mancini, Townes Van Zandt, Elvis Costello, Nina Simone, Moondog, Bob Dylan, Meredith Monk amongst others.

BoJack Horseman

Original soundtrack to the acclaimed animated celebrity satire BoJack Horseman. The show follows the life of its title character, a burnt out celebrity horse who was famous for generic 90s sitcom ‘Horsin’ Around’. The soundtrack features the score - composed by Jesse Novak  - as well as songs made for the show by The Black Keys Patrick Carney, among older tracks from classic artists like Nina Simone. This LP from Lakeshore Records comes out on a limited run of picture disc editions.

Mondo have got together a spectacular package to commemorate the passing of much-loved cartoon Adventure Time. Kankyō Ongaku: Japanese Ambient, Environmental & New Age Music 1980-1990

Light In The Attic’s obsession with reissuing Japanese records shows no sign of abating. For their next trick they’ve given us a collection of ambient compositions made in the country during the ‘80s. Kankyō Ongaku: Japanese Ambient, Environmental & New Age Music 1980-1990 includes delicate pieces from Yellow Magic Orchestra, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Hideki Matsutake and many other distinguished artists. Visible Cloaks’ Spencer Doran has compiled this one.

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (Music from the Motion Picture)

Fear, Loathing and Full-Frontal Snogging in Las Vegas is a book by Louise Re… Wait, what? This book isn’t in that series? It’s actually called Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and was written by Hunter S. Thompson? Well blow me - now you’re telling me they made a FILM of it as well?! And that film has an absolutely stonking soundtrack that includes music by Tom Jones, Jefferson Airplane and the Dead Kennedy’s?! My whole life has been a lie. Pass me another peyote plant, I think I need to go and lie down...

The Music Of Red Dead Redemption II

It’s time to separate Red Dead Redemption 2 from ‘Old Town Road’ in your mind once and for all. Despite initially doing the rounds cut to footage from the smash-hit video game, Lil Nas X’s all-conquering tune actually never appeared on the OST to the Rockstar Games effort. But don’t fret, this Lakeshore edition of the Red Dead Redemption 2 soundtrack includes plenty of wide-open-prairie tunes to make up for the absence of ‘Old Town Road’. Josh Homme, D’Angelo and Willie Nelson are among those featured.

Factory Communications 1978-92

The compilation Factory Communications 1978-92 finally makes its way onto wax a full decade after the CD release. This bumper set needs little introduction - Factory Records, Tony Wilson, arguably the UK’s most important post-punk label, blah blah blah. All the big hitters are included here (yer Joy Divisions, yer Happy Mondays, yer New Orders) as well as some more obtuse Factory acts. This wide spread makes for a good blend of anthems and rarities - for every ‘Love Will Tear Us Apart’ there’s something like John Dowie’s ‘It’s Hard To Be An Egg’.

Horizon Zero Dawn (Original Soundtrack)

A box set of four vinyls containing the entire soundtrack to the highly acclaimed game Horizon Zero Dawn. With many variations surrounding a central, repeating musical theme, it was a collaborative effort between composers Joris De Man, Joe Henson, Alexis Smith, Niels Van Der Leest and the Guerrilla Games Audio Team as a whole, and won the Jerry Goldsmith Award for best original score in a video game two years ago.
