Alessandro Cortini
Volume Massimo

Alessandro Cortini is best known as a key member of Nine Inch Nails, but he is also an active figure in the synthesiser scene. If you want to hear what all those tasty Instagram modular gear videos can do when applied to real composition, check out Volume Massimo, Cortini’s new solo electronic album. Stacks of sonics to enjoy here. Of course, Cortini has previously released a couple of awesome loner synth records for Prurient's Hospital Productions label as well as the heartwrenching, gorgeous Forse trilogy on Important Records. Lest we forget that filthy stonker on Bunker as Slumberman, plus his Sonoio output on Dais, a collaboration with mighty Japanese noise lord Merzbow among many other works.

Bongzilla
Gateway

Muleboy, Spanky and the gang, AKA, Bongzilla, released their third album, Gateway, in 2002. The stoner rock/ heavy metal band from Madison, Wisconsin, had a vested interest in all things weed related. The title, Gateway, is reference to the ol’ Mary Jo being a gateway to harder drugs and not a reference to the now defunct supermarket chain.

Eric Serra
Léon (Musique Du Film De Luc Besson)

A vinyl version of Eric Serra’s pointed and emotional soundtrack to Luc Besson’s beloved and controversial 1994 action thriller movie Léon, starring Jean Reno, Gary Oldman and a young Natalie Portman. Available for the first time in LP form, it's presented over four sides of vinyl and released on Wagram Records.

Explosions In The Sky
How Strange, Innocence (Anniversary Edition)

Recorded in the space of two days at the end of 1999, Texan post-rock heroes Explosions In The Sky made small but significant ripples in the underground scene with a limited CD run of their humble debut How Strange, Innocence. Twenty years later, it eventually gets a thorough double-vinyl treatment, with beautiful etchings and inserts.

Florence + The Machine
Lungs (10th Anniversary Edition)

Does Florence And The Machine’s debut LP Lungs hold up a decade on from its release? Only one way to find out I guess. As tenth anniversary editions go this new pressing of Lungs is fairly low-key - just some new colours on the vinyl this time around. For the cheap seats - Lungs is the one with ‘You’ve Got The Love’, ‘Dog Days Are Over’ and the definitely-lyrically-watertight ‘Kiss With A Fist’ on it.

Freddie Gibbs & Madlib
Bandana

Been a long wait for this one. Anyone who’s had even a passing interest in hip-hop throughout the 2010’s knows that Pinata, the 2014 collaboration between Freddie Gibbs and Madlib, is one of the strongest rap full-lengths of the decade. The pair repeat the trick on Bandana, an LP five years in the making. Though the weight of anticipation must have been heavy for this one Gibbs and 'lib are as steely-eyed as ever - Gibbs spits iron-wool bars over Madlib’s beat odysseys. Masterpiece, obviously. Pusha T, Killer Mike and Yasiin Bey are among the guests.

Melvins
The Maggot & The Bootlicker

To mark the 20th anniversary of the Ipecac Records imprint, as well as the commencement of Melvins’ beloved ‘trilogy’ of albums all released within the space of 12 months, this white and ‘doublemint’ green double LP set collects the first two records out of that triptych - The Maggot and The Bootlicker.

Ned's Atomic Dustbin
God Fodder

History traditionally hasn’t been kind to Ned’s Atomic Dustbin, often held up as everything wrong with British music in the early Nineties before Suede ignited Britpop. But their 1991 debut album God Fodder still retains a certain time-specific charm, all noisy guitars and rattling drums, and this special vinyl re-issue is long overdue.

Pastor T.L. Barrett and The Youth For Christ Choir
Do Not Pass Me By Vol. II

Following up the cult success of the much-beloved Like A Ship… Without A Sail in 1971, Do Not Pass Me By was the even more limited successor two years later. Chicago’s Pastor T.L. Barrett once again took the 40-piece Youth For Christ Choir and laid down ten more yearning, soaring spiritual tracks.

Solange
When I Get Home

Earning rave reviews upon its surprise release back in January, Solange’s second studio album When I Get Home at last gets a proper vinyl edition, arriving on a special clear LP. Including insightful highlights like ‘Almeda’, Solange can now surely do no more to shake off the insulting tag of merely being Beyonce’s sister.

The Wedding Present
Tommy 30

30 years on from its original release, the Wedding Present have re-recorded Tommy. At the time it was something of the less loved younger sibling to their their debut proper, being that it collected a selection of their early singles. The new recording shows how the band have grown and evolved, and deliberately conceives of them as belonging to one release.

Ulver
Bergtatt

Reissues are under way of Ulver’s ‘Black Metal’ period. Bergtatt is the band’s debut album, and is a fast blast of black metal with Norwegian folk influences. The record has been remastered for this release, and comes as a heavyweight package (thick gatefold sleeve and 180g vinyl) with a booklet, on Century Media.

Uniform & The Body
Everything That Dies Someday Comes Back

After the success of 2018’s Mental Wounds Not Healing, The Body and Uniform join forces once more for another LP. Given that both of these groups work the channels between noise and melody, it’s no surprise that Everything That Dies Someday Comes Back is a set of totemic industrial electronics. EBM, darkwave, monolithic post-rock and plenty more are all chucked together on this intense album. Cuts like ‘Penance’ come across like New Order being reworked for a Posh Isolation compilation.
