RAC (Remix Artist Collective), setup and lead by André Allen Anjos drops his new full length album on Counter Records. Refined electro pop-come-disco with a grand 80s glamour.  With all but the outro bringing a different collaborating artists. Featuring Rivers Cuomo, Chaos Chaos, MNDR, Rostam, St. Lucia, Jordan Corey, Karl Kling and many more.

Radar Men From The Moon
Strange Wave Galore

Radioactive Man
Luxury Sky Garden Remixes

London based producer Radioactive Man released his fifth full length on the Asking For Trouble label, a matter of months later and we have this EP with four very distinct remixes from Dexorcist, Ben Pest, Pain Struck Stanley Dumb, and BiggaBush. From speedy and menacing to upbeat and playful, the whole electro spectrum is catered for.

Only Built 4 Cuban Linx

Rae's Only Built 4 Cuban Linx is an early Wu-Tang solo classic, responsible for sequels and known for classic sampling from the RZA in primetime. This is one of the Wu's most intricately told stories, a record about drugs in New York told through some of the best hooks with some of the best singles.

Rainbow Island
Crystal Smerluvio Riddims

Roman psychedelia here from Rainbow Island. Crystal Smerluvio Riddims isn’t just your usual psych-rock record though, as the group have decided to incorporate Riddims from elsewhere as well as some dub production touches. That makes the album a refreshingly different kind of space flight to the one you might have imagined. Co-released by NO=FI Recordings and Flying Kids Records.

Conquest Play / Clockwork

An exclusive and very limited vinyl 12” from industrial titans Ramleh. These British experimentalists have been dabbling in power electronics, harsh noise and rock structures since the early 1980s and the rest of musical culture is only just catching up. One side of Conquest Play/Clockwork has the dizzying electronic line-up and the other has the aggro rock setup, so everyone’s happy.

¿Cómo Se Divertirán Los Insectos?

Originally released in 1986 on the Grabaciones Accidentales label - original copies of this LP are sought after. Long cherished by the likes of Trevor Jackson and JD Twitch (Optimo), this cult 80's album finally, sees a most welcome official reissue - the inaugural release on new imprint Equilibrio. Produced by Eugenio Muñoz who was one-half of outfit Mecánica Popular whose ¿Qué Sucede Con El Tiempo? LP was reissued on Andy Votel, Sean Canty and Doug Shipton curated label Dead-Cert Home Entertainment. That particular reissue has increased interest in the sole LP Muñoz recorded as Randomize. Friend Damian Schwartz encouraged Muñoz to go through the original tapes, and now here it is; a proper reissue.

Ras G
Raw Fruit Vol. 3-4

Ras G considers the material on the Raw Fruit series of beat-tapes as primarily “freestyle beats I make to smoke weed to”. Good to have a clearly defined function. However, these tracks aren’t just doped out: Ras’ interests in afrofuturism and free jazz (he is a contemporary of Flying Lotus after all) are also audibly apparent. Double LP on Leaving Records.

Rat & Co
Third Law

Here  - I'll tell you something that will surprise you. I don't like rats. This is the second Rat referencing band of late after Rat boy so maybe they are due a comeback. This lot are from Australia and have shared stages with Tycho and Chet Faker so i think we know what to expect though the press release promises music that 'defies explanation'.

Estrella EP

Estrella is the debut EP from RBCHMBRS, whose music is thankfully catchier than their chosen artist name. Drum & Bass gets recalibrated and chopped up into refreshing new forms, proving that there’s joyous life in the old breaks yet! You are advised to listen to these three tracks at any turntable speed you damn please. 12” on the 1432 R label.

Red Stars Over Tokyo
Infinity From The Mouth Of Night

Remixed and remade from an Ambient DJ set in Berghain, Infinity From The Mouth of Night by Red Stars Over Tokyo is a five track LP of dark, pulsating and ominous Ambient music with a Techno undertone, which is seemingly always threatening to burst into raucous destruction. This is Red Stars Over Tokyo’s fifth LP on Hot Hair and continues to deliver expansive music landscapes.

Reptile Ranch
Reptile Ranch

Reptile Ranch were a DIY punk / post-punk band operative in South Wales in the years surrounding 1980. This release gathers up everything they ever released (plus a few morsels they didn’t) on a single LP, putting their unique sound back on the radar and back into availability. Edition of 500 LPs in DIY-style paste-on-photo sleeves, on C/Site Recordings.

Rev. Sekou
In Times Like These

Rev. Sekou resurrects the good old fiery spiritual soul sound of the Old South, imbuing gospel and blues with the full strength of his theological and activist background. His debut album In Times Like These is protest music imbued with a righteous power and a deep grounding in musical tradition. Out on Zent Records.

Rex Ilusivii
Koncert SNP 1983

Rex Ilusivii (aka Mitar Subotic) was a Serbian producer and composer who based himself in Brazil during his later years. This record documents a live Konzert given at the Serbian National Theatre in 1983, when he was just 22. These compositions have the strange, haunting vibe of much Illusivii material: something a little bit special. LP on Offen Music.

RG Lowe
Slow Time

RG Lowe, of Balmorhea, has produced a fully-fledged vocal pop album in Slow Time, which might surprise fans of Balmorhea’s instrumental music. Slow Time is centred around a Wurlitzer electric piano and the Lowe’s dramatic vocal moves, adding up to a slick R&Bish album. Slow Time is released by Western Vinyl.

Richard H. Kirk

One of the founding members of Cabaret Voltaire Richard H. Kirk has continued on with his quest through dark electronic and ambient territories. Releasing his own work under his own name and continuing under Cabaret Voltaire solo all through his own Intone label. Dasein will be His first solo record in 5 years.

Richard von der Schulenburg
Wanderung durch Wald und Flur

Dark music for dark times as Golden Püdel’s (Golden Poodle) Richard Von Der Schulenburg presents an album of brooding underground techno and electronica that will appeal to fans of Gas, Cluster and Roedelius.  The spirit of teutonic synth abstraction continues here with a series of seemingly numbered tracks that provide an update of the classic dark and swirling sounds of yore.

Ricked Wicky
I Sell The Circus

Robert Pollard is an indefatigably prolific artist, writing indie pop songs that make 99% of other songwriters jealous. Now that his main band, the legendary Guided By Voices have decided to call it a day, for a second time, Pollard has a new band, Ricked Wicky. Pollard describes the band as a “Sophisticated arena band”. I Sell The Circus is available on CD.

Rival Consoles

Rival Consoles is Ryan Lee West - a London based electronic producer signed to Erased Tapes who has his roots in rock music and is primarily a guitarist. His mission on his new album, Howl was to find the perfect balance between club music and something more personal to listen to at home. The album’s title track is made up from West’s experiments of wiring synths up to guitar pedals, the resulting noises were howl-like. These experiments also inspired a darker tone to the album. His less-is-more approach to composition fits in with the Erased Tapes ethos.

Robert Millis
The Lonesome High

Robert Millis, who you’ll know from Climax Golden Twins and his work with Sublime Frequencies, releases his first solo album The Lonesome High, which finds him (perhaps surprisingly) in singer-songwriter mode. Although make no mistake, these songs have certain weirdnesses to them. Oh, and Alan Bishop turns up on backing vocals too. Vinyl release on Abduction.

Roberto Musci
The Loa of Music (The Complete Sessions)

Italian composer Roberto Musci recorded The Loa Of Music in 1983, using field samples, synthesizers, instrumentation and musique concrète techniques in documentation of the varying styles of non-western music, mainly Africa, India and Asia. When originally released only about half of it was put out, so Soave have reissued it on double LP with the full 80 minutes with all of the unreleased material.

Valere Aude

NYC techno producer Gunnar Haslam and Vienna-based Johannes Auvinen combine their unique talents for some searing psychedelic techno. Valere Aude is their debut as Romans, but their sound crams in decades of spacey synth drones, harsh handclaps and pulsing basslines. Available on double vinyl LP and CD.

Ron Trent

Ron Trent adds a second instalment to his planned Humans, Drums & Machines series, which gives this EP the utilitarian title of Drums. These two tracks do not disappoint on the promise of that name, whipping listeners into a cool frenzy with those crucial house drums and fine synth twinkles. 12” on Trent’s own Electric Blue label.

Ron Trent

The Chicago house kingpin that is Ron Trent gets on with his ‘Dancefloor Boogie Delites’ series of 12”s with Touch. These two new tracks are smooth and sweet and slickly funky, with absolutely everything you’d want from a Trent house classic. 12” vinyl release on the Music and Power label.

Roots In Heaven
Petites Madeleines

Roots In Heaven has done his time as a DJ, producer and label owner in Berlin: with this album, he pushes somewhat beyond the club contexts he’s primarily worked in before with this single hour-long stretch of throbbing, pulsing, semi-abstract analogue electronics. Petites Madeleines is a deep and dark trip to be taken alone. Vinyl release on

Rose McDowall
Our Twisted Love

Rose McDowell is the raven-haired Scottish lady responsible for one half of Strawberry Switchblade but who has since gone on to have an unusual idiosyncratic career. Here is her latest batch of dark and slightly unhinged pop emerging from her recent return to the live scene. Think the beautiful but bleak pop-noir of late '70s Nico.

Rosie Lowe

Rosie Lowe is a new name in the fertile synth-soul scene, combining a traditionally heartfelt vocal approach with some bass-weighted electronic production. Control is her debut full-length, and is available as CD or LP: the LP includes a free download of 2 extra bonus tracks. Released by the Wolf Tone label.

Thoughts Of An Introvert Pt. 1

rRoxymore delivers three mid-length tracks on this here 12” EP for Don’t Be Afraid. Thoughts of an Introvert, Pt. 1 is indeed kind of introverted in its production style, with a rolling, pulsating electronic landscape that seems to be driving at something deep within. Still, could definitely get moving to those drums.

Run Dust
Leisure Village

Luke Calzonetti has gone through many guises and styles before arriving at his latest. From skitz-grind outfit Child Abuse to jazz to painting. Leisure Village is his third album on In Paradisium and shows all he’s taken in and turned into sound design prowess. 8 tracks of glorious soft ambient electronica with an Aphex Twin like lean toward the eerie and detatched.

Rupert Clervaux & Beatrice Dillon
Studies I-XVII for Samplers and Percussion

A title such as Studies I - XVII For Samplers and Percussion is likely to draw in a certain kind of listener isn’t it? They’ll be happy with this record from Rupert Clervaux & Beatrice Dillon, but others should check it out too, as this is, for all its rigour, a very enjoyable set of highly rhythmic excursions. LP on Snow Dog Records.

Russell Haswell

Here’s a 2014 session from deranged synth-noiser and Consumer Electronics / Autechre associate Russell Haswell! Constitutional, which the liner notes tell us was recorded in one evening, is a typically Haswellian slab of beat-driven modular synth noise, and it ought to make you feel like Haswell looks on the sleeve if you listen to it loud enough. Vinyl release on Bocian.

Ryan Teague
Site Specific

Ryan Teague keeps his fans on their toes by working freely across different styles. New record Site Specific might best be described as cinematic minimal ambient jazz, although perhaps with more rhythmic flavour than that might suggest. Featured players include Gareth Davis and Dan Nicholls. Vinyl and CD release on King Tree.

S Olbricht
For Perfect Beings

Co-founder of the Farbwechsel imprint, Budapest based producer S Olbricht (UIQ, Opal Tapes) forms ambient techno pieces that sound as if they have been recorded too fast and slowed to the correct BPM resulting in everything sounding thuggy, pitched down and warm. Comes with a two track 10” which features conceptual reworkings of a single track - Ovacrwded.

Much needed re-issue of the debut LP from these Austin based electronic wizards, two of whom went on to compose the soundtrack to 'Stranger Things'. Back in 2012 though they were combining vintage and modern synthesisers to concoct their original brand of atmospheric soundtrack influenced compositions. Very influential record this one.

S. Araw "Trio" XI
Gazebo Effect

Stoned psych-jammer Cameron Stallones’ Sun Araw project appears here in a new and evolved form, as the S. Araw “Trio” XI. Gazebo Effect presents four sides of their explorations, utilising various synths, computer programs and a ‘midi-guitar’ to produce strange shimmery soundscapes. An odd (e.g. good) collection indeed.

Planing / Sickos

Sami, the producer from Washington DC with fingers in the 1432 R pie, has cut two new tracks just especially for your listening pleasure. Planing is led by a breezy jazz-cool flute part hovering over some major drum machine clatter, and B-side Sickos is just as much of a big-hitting swinger. Good dancing times here on this 12” from Future Times.

Sarah Schachner
Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare

Extremely popular killing stuff games Call of Duty now broach the world of vinyl because of course. Grandiose in nature, these games owe a lot of their intensity to Sarah Schachner, whose monolithic scores helped reimagine the game in their newly crowned sci-fi setting. Orchestral maneuvers give this game its galaxical upending.

Scott Kelly, Steve Von Till & Wino
Songs of Townes Van Zandt

Sean McCann
Music for Public Ensemble

Sean McCann (he of Great Big Sea fame), has assembled a great number of friends and associates (including Ian William Craig, Graham Lambkin, Cameron Stallones, Spencer Grady…) to perform his piece Music for Public Ensemble. The work is a fairly beautiful and gently experimental thing, giving off an air of friendly co-operation. Double LP release with a pamphlet of program notes, on Recital.

Second Woman

Joshua Eustis (ex-Nine Inch Nails, Telfon Tel Aviv) and Turk Dietrich (Belong) return to Spectrum Spools with their sophomore full length as Second Woman. Glitchy as possible before breaking out of musicality, programming through code to create twisted technofied beats. A definite must for fans of Autechre or Mark Fell. Comes with download code that includes a bonus remix by Gabor Lazar.

Sensations Fix
Vision's Fugitives

Reissue of Sensations Fix’s 1977 full length Vision’s Fugitives. While a mainstay in Italian prog rock, they also took a unique angle, being influenced more by the Cosmic Couriers label and German Krautrock bands such as Neu! and Can. Originally released on a tiny american label All Ears to the american market it didn’t fair well, but now sound Of Cobra have unearthed it.

Separation Anxiety

Secret keepers Horo continue to release all the stuff no one ever fathomed, with a release of Separation Anxiety's first record sure to ease the minds of many an anxious goth. This record of moody, dark strangeness has a metallic techno sway to it, sounding kinda like playing a level of Goldeneye 64 as the room starts compressing, at other times opening up wailing caverns of drone to lull your noisy techno selves into a false sense of security.

September Girls
Age of Indignation

Dublin band September Girls make a jittery art-rock built from ghostly vocals and atmospheric guitar playing. Age of Indignation is their second studio album and channels their interest in Irish politics and feminism into a wall of distortion and effects. Fortuna POP! release the album on CD and vinyl LP.

Sequoyah Tiger

Sequoyah Tiger is a project of Leila Gharib, also of Barokthegreat and Bikini The Cat. The Ta-Ta-Ta-Time EP is mostly electronic (plus Gharib’s voice), but nevertheless it almost sounds like a set of classic 60’s pop, only updated and refracted through Gharib’s artistic sensibility. 12” vinyl release on Morr Music.

Sewer Election

She & Him

American indie pop/folk duo She & Him return with their fifth LP of sickly sweet sunshine pop. This time they’ve made a covers record, ‘Classics’, which features 13 tracks covering the duo's favourite classic songs in a way that highlights the brilliance of the songwriting and the beauty of their melodies. Recorded live and accompanied by a 20 piece orchestra.

The Final Experiment

Shed has been producing stern but smart techno music for many years, though it’s been half a decade since his previous full-length.The Final Experiment masterfully toes the line between four-to-the-floor club workout music and spacier atmospheres. CD and double LP release on Modeselektor’s Monkeytown label.

Shelly Manne

Upheld by a sprawling and eclectic range of worldly instrumentation is Daktari - West Coast drummer Shelly Manne's perfect TV series companion. The record still stands as a global fusion pioneer, and is cut from the best of electro and afro-funk. Percussive stabs and the use of the marimba bring this piece to life.

Shining Bird
Black Opal

Shining Bird have been dreaming up Australian-tinged dream pop in Australia for several years now, and now have a second full length to share with the world. Black Opal is a big-sounding record that harks back to some of the more epic moments of 80’s pop: listen out for the gated-reverb drums! Released by the Spunk label.

Celestial Bliss

Under Shinoby, Italian producer Omar Contri has channelled his downtempo chopped and screwed techniques into techno, releasing a number of EPs, and now presents his debut full length Celestial Bliss. Mixing caustic acid, techno and hardcore, it plays out like a distorted industrialised Mortal Kombat soundtrack, an energetic dystopia.

Shock Machine
Shock Machine

Remember the Klaxons? Of course you remember the Klaxons! James Righton was in that band and here he debuts a new project that tributes the weirdos of mainstream pop with unabashed sentimental fervor. Inspired by ELO and Roxy Music and even a bit of later-on McCartney, this record of electro-pop digressions is what you'd expect from someone who was, by the way, in the Klaxons.

Shy Layers
Shy Layers

Debut full-length from Shy Layers, a synth-pop producer who seems to have learned the lessons of vaporwave and hypnagogic pop without fully succumbing to those aesthetic traps. Deeply-vocoded vocals and hazy-warm synth pads put across a beautiful atmosphere that almost feels too relaxed to have come from New York. Vinyl release on Growing Bin Records.

Siavash Amini

Containing an ocean-sized depth of emotion and meaning, TAR is Tehran-based producer Siavash Amini's 2017 brainchild. Comprised of four offerings, including the mammoth twelve-minutes-plus tracks 'A Dream's Frozen Reflection' and 'The Dust We Breathe', this is a sophisticated take on modern drone and classical genres.

Side Eyes
So Sick

This band is something that we'll probably start to see a lot more of in the future. Bands formed out of the offspring of former heroes. Singer Astrid MacDonald is the offspring of members of Redd Kross and the Go Go's which makes you wonder whether the driving pop punk she makes with her band is somehow a result of DNA.

Second full-length from Sigha. Metabolism is a compelling suite of high-tech techno that is notable for consciously playing around with the mono and stereo deployment of different sound elements and frequencies, making headphones or a good system a must. CD and double LP editions on the Token label.

Silk Rhodes
Silk Rhodes

The modern sound of funky R&B from Silk Rhodes. This self-titled record is a fresh take on contemporaneous R&B - packed with an array of sultry keyboards and synths, super tight guitars, some funk-centric bass and sultry vocals. A fusion of Stevie, D'angelo, Prince and Sa-Ra. These are some straight up sexy jams. Pick it up on Vinyl LP and CD from Stones Throw.

Silver Apples

The second album by the magical Silver Apples, first released in 1969 and now reissued for your pleasure. Contact features more of the wonderful interplay between Simeon’s DIY synthesiser monster, Dan Taylor’s pulsing drums, and vocals extolling psychedelic adventures. Contact is reissued by Rotorelief.

Simbiosi present a whole 14 tracks on this new Werkdiscs collection. The Italians immediately get heavy and hardcore from the first track onwards: ‘xxxxxxx’ has a kick/bass sound so thick the track distorts itself. Fantastic. Elements spans 6 sides of 180g vinyl, packaged in an attractive black and white sleeve.

Indastria EP

Simian Mobile Disco

Odd how Simian Mobile disco emerged out of the now forgotten leftfield rock band Simian but you can't really argue with the enormous success they've had since with loads of sales all over the world and curly haired James Ford becoming a sought after producer of note. Incredibly on this album they swapped laptops for one synth and sequencer each and recorded the whole thing in front of a live audience. This approach has paid dividends with a series of subtle and refined tracks which contain ambient beatless explorations, cosmic German and Italian synth influenced tracks and splendid future techno as on the title track which has all the late night twinkling of any early Warp track.

Simon Joyner & David Nance
Goats Head Soup

Simon Joyner and David Nance here take on one of the Rolling Stones’ lesser-loved albums in full, ‘covering’ Goat’s Head Soup in a fairly freewheeling manner. This version sheds the classic rock vibes in favour of fuzzy DIY, and is happy to totally rewrite songs where Joyner and Nance feel they can do better than Mick and Keith and the boys. A bold reimagining, out on Grapefruit.

Beyond The Dance - Mr. Fingers Remixes

Chicago house overlord Mr. Fingers has been smashing it since the 80s, and L.I.E.S. have sat on these cheeky numbers since the release of Simoncino’s EP back in 2014. With the first take beefing the original up to rattle that chest, and flip over on to the dark side for a cleaner tighter groove out.

Single Mothers
Our Pleasure

These are shouty. They make incendiary punk rock with snarly vocals spat out over the top. The singer sounds like Craig Finn's snottier nephew as the barrage of words cascades over some quite tuneful guitar rock. Bet they are a blast live but until they come to your town it could be a good idea to shout along to the vinyl.

Siskiyou use whispered lyrics, stacked acoustic guitars and stripped back minimal melody and drums to evoke a tightly-wound man haunted by something unknown. Inspired by lead singer Colin Huebert's year of illness and anxiety, the record captures the internal psychological terror and unease of his experiences. The deluxe 180g LP also contains Drebert’s 12 x 12 ink drawings inspired by the album.

Six By Seven
Six By Seven

Nottingham’s Six By Seven recorded this self-titled LP in a boxing gym in their hometown. It was the gym where infamous 19th century boxer Bendigo Thompson trained. The music takes inspiration from Can drummer Jaki Liebezeit and utilises the sound of Rickenbacker guitars to the full. The band are proud that they managed to make this album without the aid of computers at any stage of the process.

Six By Seven

Six By Seven have been a long running psych/kraut/alt rock band who are now pretty much run by leader Chris Olley. This albums sees him further explore his roots in the now very fashionable German kraut rock and kosmische scene and has only used instruments and equipment that were available in the era.

Live in Paris

The reformed Sleater-Kinney, captured live in concert in 2015. Live In Paris is a punchy and fierce document of a great live band, as any attendees of recent shows can attest. CD, cassette tape and multiple vinyl editions are available, packaged in a pleasingly old-school photo-collage sleeve. On Sub Pop.

The Clarity

New music from stoner-metal overlords Sleep! The Clarity was recorded in 2009, a decade after previous release Dopesmoker and seven years before now. Let no-one accuse Sleep of being in a hurry. The Clarity is a thick and chewy slab of sludge, presented on a single side of vinyl, with the other being artfully etched. 12” on Southern Lord.

Slow Dancer
In A Mood

He might be in a bit of a mood but it's the kind of relaxed yacht rock ish mood that you'll enjoy if you like Mac DeMarco, Lindsay Buckingham, Conan Mockasin and even Flight of the Conchords. His voice is a bit weird but this has the sultry laid back feel of driving down the coast in some kind of nostalgic daydream. That voice is really weird though.

Smagghe & Cross

Together, Ivan Smagghe and Rupert Cross are Smagghe & Cross. Given that one of these is a DJ / producer and the other is a composer (yep, one who uses actual instruments!), the results of their collaborations can be pretty nifty and somewhat unusual, and this Untitled 10” release on the Offen Music label is no exception.

Moon Theory

Three short new pieces from soulful producer SMBD, who here toys with spacey ambient and deep house styles with playful aplomb. Moon Theory is a single-sided 12” vinyl release, but SMBD squeezes in more than enough goodness to justify the pressing, especially with the attractively marbled design. On Apron.

Messages 045 EP

Soulful producer SMBD presents three new tracks and one new remix of one of those new tracks by new artist World Air. The Messages 045 EP is a shiny-bright good time thing made for dancing and smiles, particularly in the case of the track ‘Ping Pong Love’, which features a distant echoed sample of what sounds like an Arthur Russell voice. 12” on Lo Recordings.

M Appeal

Smersh was a creation of the two talents Mike Mangino and Chris Shepard. Smersh went through their time in the 80's/90's with one vision: no live performances, a sh*t tonne of albums. And with this in their minds, they succeeded. In their period, around 30 different albums were released under their watch. This 12" is a remix of past singles, all mashed up and remade by Parrish Smith. This 12" can bring nostalgic feelings to past listeners, while utilising musical excellence to bring in new listeners.

Smile Down Upon Us
Smile Down Upon Us

The second album from the playful UK/Japanese group Smile Down Upon Us. Feisty, joyful and bright with everything from flute and cello to spoken word in both English and Japanese makes for a delightful listen. Think anime in musical form and you’re probably halfway there already. Vinyl LP on Where It's At Is Where You Are.

Snow In Mexico
Juno Beach

Renowned for their deep mixes, Italian producers Snow in Mexico are showcasing their compositional qualities once again. On their third release Juno Beaches, the two are displaying the near infinite possibilities of the Roland Juno synthesizer. This release is limited to 250 pressings, so don't sleep on it!

Sob Stories
Debut 12-inch

Taking their cues from the joyous jangle of ‘80s guitar bands, Sob Stories' aptly titled Debut 12-Inch sees the Bay Area band whizz through guitar pop without leaving you time to get bored. The band are led by Joel Cusumano, previously of power-pop band Talkies, so his melodic credentials all check out. 12” EP on Emotional Response.

All That We've Become

After a long wait, Society have finally released upon to us their first full length debut record. A captivating combination of experimental indie-rock has given room for All That We’ve Become to grace its presence on earth. More than just a side project, Jamie Girdler and Brendan Lynch release this album on Vinyl LP.

If you've never heard his songs 'Artifice' and 'Lessons', I'd highly recommend them. SOHN has only officially been around for a couple of years but as soon as he hit the ground he proved himself as both a talented songwriter and a very clever electronic musician, mixing the two gifts into one rather addictive package. Exciting new LP Rennen marks his return to the airwaves after a 2 year wait from fans. Released as Vinyl LP and CD on the 4AD label.

Sonic Jesus

As we know too easily psych rock will never die. Labels like Fuzz Club and Rocket are bringing all kinds of shades of it to our attention. Take Sonic Jesus for example. The brain child of one Tiziano Veronese out of Italy. On his second album he matches the earlier barrage of gruesome psych with a newfound pop sensibility with pounding beats and the dark heart still intact.

Belgica (Original Soundtrack)

Those Dewaele brothers do love a challenge: for Felix Van Groeningen’s film Belgica, they not only composed an original score, they also created tracks ‘in character’ for a number of the fictional musical artists featured in the film. Naturally, Soulwax pull off the task with aplomb. The soundtrack is a double LP release on Play It Again Sam.

Special Request
Unknown / Transmission

The one born Paul Woolford delves into the annals of U.K. rave culture once more for this two-track release. ‘Unknown’ is not a million miles from Mosca’s retro-garage classic ‘Bax’, shuffling along pleasingly with a liberal sprinkling of wubs and pull-up effects; ‘Transmission’ is sparse, spooky and weighty. Mastered by Matt Colton. Vinyl only.

How about some gruesome shoegaze for when the whole earth has been scorched and salted? Spectres' are buying, if you're interested, their new record Dying belting out a variety of dishevelled noise tactics all at the same time. Like hearing every Sunn O))) or Wold song at once, it bleeds from white noise into sonic catharsis without you realising.

Spiral Stairs
Doris and The Daggers

Whilst is been a whopping eight years since Scott Kannberg, aka Spiral Stairs, last released any music, spanking new album Doris and The Daggers proves the now-LA-based pioneer still has that magic touch. Spearhead single Dance (Cry Wolf) is candid and bare, with a hint of head-bopping swag and a dose of realism.

Hot Thoughts

Released especially for Record Store Day is this special Spoon 12” single, which contains two new and exclusive tracks! On the A-side is a remix of Hot Thoughts by Dave Sitek, of TV On The Radio and general super-producer fame, while the B-side contains a cover of the Elvis song ‘Love Letters’. 12” on Matador.

Spray Paint
Clean Blood, Regular Acid

Spray Paint are a loose and chilled out noise rock outfit with abrasive production, sharp guitar riffs and dual vocals that recall a stoned Parquet Courts staring blankly into space. The energy is there, but it's used leisurely, as if the band can rip through these songs without blinking. 'Clean Blood, Regular Acid' is ramshackle post-punk that's mumbled, shouted and shrugged -- but never truly articulated.

EP #260

Originally called Bad Rabbit and forming especially to create the soundtrack to Jim Jarmusch’s Limits Of Control, the three piece (that includes Jarmusch) renamed themselves SQÜRL and carried on after. With a number of releases on ATP and now on Sacred bones their strain of noisy, bluesy, instrumental avant-rock follows stoner rock’s slow pace with a crushed psychedelic edge. Limited single pressing.

Beat Weeks

SRAW had released a track a day on the old MySpace platform for a week to eventually build a seven-track record entitled ‘Beat Weeks’. The record could easily slip into any hip-hop record shop, and could even hold a place in some chillwave or experimental stores! This release is available on Vinyl LP.

We Never Happened

Being welcomed to the Esker label for his 6 Full length album Ssaliva crafts swelling electronic pieces with sometimes near implausible sound design and an otherworldly synth palette. A down the rabbithole journey that is a definite must for fans of Oneohtrix Point Never, Arca, Ash Koosha, Aphex Twin.

SSJJ and Devin Dare

What could very well be the heaviest and most thudding sounding bass drum I've ever heard on an opening track, APRON32 is the release from SSJJ and Devin Dare on Apron. This two track split Vinyl 12" is a cracking addition to any 'sort-of' hip-hop record collection and is a genuinely decent attempt at the lo-fi vibe.
