Gabi Delgado and Robert Görl fronted Deutsch Amerikanische Freundschaft (D.A.F.) were an experimental electronic/electro/industrial group active from 1979 until the late 80s, proclaiming they had fulfilled the concept. For fans of Kraftwerk, Laibach etc. this collection houses four albums with a bonus vinyl of remixes (including Boys Noize and Giorgio Moroder) as well as two unreleased tracks, and a load of goodies.

David Bowie
A New Career In A New Town (1977 – 1982)

Calling all very rich Bowie fans, you are in for a treat. This collection compiles all his albums between 1977 and 1982 which of course takes in his now classic 'Berlin Trilogy'. Imagine if all of these re-issues had happened and he hadn't died?

Grace Jones
The Disco Years

Disco motherload! Four whole LPs, containing Grace Jones’ first three albums (Portfolio, Fame, and Muse), and, crucially for disco music, the 12” extended versions of the singles. Hans Zimmer & Ben Wallfisch
Blade Runner 2049

If making a sequel to the film Blade Runner wasn’t enough of a challenge already, how about composing the sequel to its Vangelis soundtrack? Hans Zimmer and Ben Wallfisch have answered that question with big booming bass throbs and snatches of Vangelis-esque synth electronics. It sounds great on the big screen, and it’ll probably sound great played loud on your stereo too. Blade Runner 2049’s soundtrack is released by Sony Music Classical.

Hüsker Dü
Savage Young Dü

Something nice for fans of legendary post-punk racketeers Husker Du. 'Savage Young Du' is a journey through the young life of the band including early recordings, sessions and live performances as well as their classic early single 'Statues'/'Amusement'. All housed in deluxe set with book of photos and memorabilia.

James Green
Norman Records Gift Voucher

As anyone who has ever used our 'Click And Collect' service knows, our premises over here in Leeds aren't exactly beautiful. Even visitors from the former East Germany have been known to gasp at the unforgiving concrete monstrosity we call home.   It always takes a special kind of talent to see inner beauty, and in James Green we found such a talent. If James's linocut landscapes can somehow manage to make Sheffield (yes, Sheffield!) look poetic then he can surely produce something for us, we thought. And so it proved. Even the wheelie bin looks nice. The fact that he has also worked for Domino Records...well, we won't hold that against him.

John Carpenter
Anthology: Movie Themes 1974-1998

Thy lord cometh. John Carpenter’s themes to his genre spanning and defining films are defining in themselves, with countless contemporary artists taking influence from them. This collection takes basically all of his biggest themes from his films including Halloween, Big Trouble In Little China, Assault On Precinct 13, Escape From New York, They Live, and The Thing. LP on Sacred Bones.

John Williams
Steven Spielberg & John Williams - The Ultimate Collection

Ultimate gets a double underlining here I think, maybe more. John Williams and Steven Spielberg’s 40 year collaboration has been responsible for the likes of Jaws, Indiana Jones, Schindler’s List, Saving Private Ryan, Hook, E.T. and many more. Made available on vinyl for the first time ever, and includes an extensive selection from all of their greats, but this is more than a greatest hits.

John Williams
Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope 40th Anniversary Boxset

One of the most memorable scores of all time sees a respectfully vast vinyl release. Not any vinyl though. This has been hand etched and features 3D holograms on the record itself. There are also rare photos and a hardcover book featuring two essays on John Williams and his magnificent contribution to the Stars Wars adventure.

Johnny Cash
Unearthed

Unearthed by Johnny Cash finally gets a vinyl release - a spectacular vinyl release at that. 9 LPs presented in a cloth-bound book along with another cloth-bound book containing all-encompassing liner notes by music journalist Sylvie Symons. The remaining music left over from Johnny Cash’s sessions with Rick Rubin was originally released in 2003. The set is a must for any fan, containing duets with Carl Perkins, Tom Petty, Nick Cave, Joe Strummer, Glen Campbell and Fiona Apple.

Kate Bush
Before The Dawn

Kate Bush’s mind-blowing run of 22 live shows in 2014 was a joy to those who were there: this release documents what went down in luxurious detail. Before The Dawn stretches live recordings over 3 CDs and 4 vinyl records, carefully arranged to fully express the concepts of the show. Released by Fish People.

Kraftwerk
3-D: The Catalogue

If you didn’t snatch a ticket to one of Kraftwerk’s 3-D live shows this summer, you can make it up to yourself with this piece of documentation! 3-D: The Catalogue is available in five different formats, ranging from DVD and LP versions of highlights from the tour setlist to vinyl, CD and Blu-Ray boxes with all eight of Kraftwerk’s (main) albums performed in full, plus various trimmings. Wow!

Lift To Experience
The Texas-Jerusalem Crossroads

We see plenty of these fancy deluxe box-set reissues, perhaps too many, but sometimes the lavish treatment is richly deserved, as in the case of Lift To Experience’s only album. The Texas-Jerusalem Crosswords is a strange and wonderful rock epic that you really need to hear. And if you already know and love it, the 2LP box-set also includes the band’s super-rare EP and Peel Session. Yeah!

Madness
Full House - The Very Best of Madness

There’s been no shortage of Madness comps over the years, but none more comprehensive or revelatory than this up-to-date career-spanner. Almost evenly split between their initial chart-dominating 80s run and post-reunion highlights, it presents the (occasionally still) Nutty (former) Boys as a British institution of 40 years standing. No less than 42 tracks on a double CD, or 4-LP set with a pop-up gatefold sleeve.

Metallica
Hardwired… To Self-Destruct

A brand new Metallica album appeared! Hardwired… To Self-Destruct is their first album in eight years. And because Metallica are a colossally big band, they have a broad plethora of formats for you to choose from, ranging from 2CD and 2LP editions to a massive, bonus-material-laden triple LP+CD box-set stuffed with badges and photo prints. Up to you.

Mogwai
Every Country's Sun

There’s not many things in life you can rely upon like Mogwai. Perhaps a really reliable plumber is the best comparison I can make. There they are year in year out to service all your post rock needs and come up with the odd chucklesome song title (check the press release for this year’s entry). This is their 9th album and was recorded in New York with Dave Fridmann. It contains in 56 minutes of their signature sound of post rock elegance and euphoric noise-scapes. Big box set too with demos and all sorts.

Nina Simone
The Best Studio & Live Recordings

Nina Simone was a genuinely groundbreaking artist. A musician, composer and arranger with great skill and an expressive voice that told of her woes as she sang her songs. As great creative people often are, Nina Simone was tightly wound and prone to explosive fits of rage, but this only made her music all the more passionate. The Best Studio & Live Recordings is just that, split over a double LP.

Queen
News Of The World (40th Anniversary Edition)

The big dogs of Classic British Rock are getting some nice reissue treatment here: Queen’s 1977 album News of the World. This deluxe box set reissue features the original album of course, plus two whole discs of outtake and unheard alternative versions, one of which replicates the album’s tracklist with new versions. Also a DVD with a documentary, a big book of rare material and 3 posters! What a bounty. On Universal.

R.E.M.
Automatic For The People (25th Anniversary Edition)

Outta the way people, certified classic coming through! Automatic For The People, unleashed twenty-five years ago, firmly established R.E.M. as a massive globe-straddling band, with hits including ‘Everybody Hurts’ and ‘Nightswimming’. Now here is an anniversary reissue to celebrate, ranging from a straight-up vinyl edition to a sprawling 3CD and Blu Ray collection with demos, a live show, and more besides.

Radiohead
A Moon Shaped Pool

Hello. Thom. It's me. The Radioheadmaster. Your teachers and I are all becoming a little concerned with your workrate. We all agree you're spending a little too much time on BitTorrent and not enough time on your studies. As such we're decided it's best you repeat the fourth grade -- I trust a second attempt at "True Love Waits", "Identikit" and "Desert Island Disk" won't be asking too much. Now please stop looking pensively at your shoes and get to English Lit. What's that? "A Moon Shaped Pool"? You're expelled.

Radiohead
OK Computer - OKNOTOK 1997-2017

If you happen to be a fan of this album then here’s something you might want to get your mitts on. The whole album remastered plus the B sides from the singles of the time plus the holy grail for Radiohead fans,  three unreleased and long sought after tracks dug out of the vaults. All formats have all the bonus stuff on so if you miss out on the opaque blue vinyl you are still ok (computer).

Ramones
Rocket To Russia

40th anniversary edition of the Ramones third album Rocket to Russia. This one features many of their most classic songs such as  'Sheena Is A Punk Rocker' and 'Rockaway Beach'. This edition contains two dozen rare and unreleased tracks plus a never before heard recording of their show at the Apollo, Glasgow in 1977. Altogether now 1-2-3-4.

Savage Pencil
Norman Records Gift Voucher

We commissioned the one and only Savage Pencil (Sav X / Edwin Pouncey) a few years back to produce our very first Norman Records postcard. It's still going strong. With a design purposely intended to scare children off buying vinyl (seriously, kids, don't start) you too can own an exclusive piece of art from a guy who has done work for everyone from The Fall to Madonna. We made that last bit up.

Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings
Soul Of A Woman

Soul of a Woman by Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings is an album of songs that the band recorded in the year prior to her sad death in 2016. It’s always good to go out on top, and with this album, Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings are in scintillating, soulful form. On vinyl LP with download code and CD.

Sun Ra
Singles (The Definitive 45s Collection Vol. 2: 1962-1991)

The second volume of Strut’s compilation of Sun Ra’s many many singles gets a vinyl release. The Definitive 45s Collection includes a huge variety of Ra’s styles: he seemed to view singles (often pressed in very small runs) as opportunities to try things as strange as quasi-disco, spoken word, R&B and more. Three LPs of rare material, accompanied by detailed track-by-track liner notes. On Strut.

The Doors
The Singles

The Doors were a kind of gloomy '70s version of INXS with a prowling tiger of a singer and some other blokes in tow. They are currently celebrating their 50th anniversary and this set compiles all their US singles and their B sides - even the ones they ill advisedly did after the death of Jim Morrison. Your only vinyl option is a 7" box set so good luck with that.

The Fall
The Fontana Years

Woaah there. A 6CD box set emanating from the type Mark E Smith and his merry troupe were signed to Fontana. This includes classic albums Extricate, Shiftwork and Code: Selfish plus all the singles, B sides  and John Peel Sessions from the era which was one of the most creative and vital periods of their long history.

The Fall
A-Sides 1978-2016

A-Sides 1978-2016 is a career-spanning singles compilation by The Fall. Mark E. Smith’s revolving door collective have released 60-odd albums, if you include live albums and compilations, in their career. This is the first collection to bring together singles from a number of different labels. With 51 tracks over 3 CDs, this retrospective will give you a good overview of The Fall’s career, and to endorse its credibility among fans of the band, all tracks have been remastered by Fall engineer Andy Pearce.

The Magnetic Fields
50 Song Memoir

Another bit of music-hall high-conceptitude here from Stephin Merritt & Co. There’s a song here for each of Merritt’s 50 years on Earth, with writing begun on his 50th birthday. Not quite 69 but age inevitably brings a slowing down of productivity. Despite the shift from storytelling or meta-songwriting to a more autobiographical lyrical style there’s nothing here to throw long-term fans and enough wit, guile and craft to charm plenty of new ones.

The Rolling Stones
Their Satanic Majesties Request - 50th Anniversary Edition

Following the hullabaloo about the 50th Anniversary edition of the Beatles 'Sgt Pepper's...' we now get a bespoke four disc re-vamp of their great rivals the Rolling Stones similarly ambitious Their Satanic Majesties Request. This was the album in which they experimented with psychedelia, sound effects and unconventional song structures. Bonkers and groundbreaking.

The Smiths
The Queen Is Dead (2017 Master) [Deluxe Edition]

Another magical example of when a single LP gets turned into a 5LP box set. The Smiths 4th best album finally gets the big set treatment with demos, b-sides live tracks and a DVD featuring Derek Jarman's short film made to accompany the original release. A must for all fans of this most special of bands. "Slip them into different sleeves! Buy both, and feel deceived".

Wilco
Being There (Deluxe Edition)

Being There was the second album to be released by Wilco. 1996 was a fruitful time for Jeff Tweedy and Co. as they had enough high quality songs to fill a double album. The rich, creative period is borne out by this reissue which is spread over 5 CDs or 4 LPs and includes previously unreleased tracks, live stuff and alternate versions of Wilco classics.

Wu-Tang Clan
Wu-Tang: The Saga Continues

The Wu-Tang’s seventh full length. Eighth if you’re perverse enough to count the single-copy Once Upon a Time in Shaolin, and Lesson Learn’d makes a point of dissing that item’s purchaser, appropriately cartoonish supervillain Martin Shkreli. That string-driven track and single People Say are strong enough to stimulate murmurs of a return to top form, so hopefully we’ll soon be discussing this Mathematics-produced album for entirely non-pharma-bro-related reasons.
