Angelo Badalamenti
Twin Peaks

Can’t go wrong with this deeply classic soundtrack work from Angelo Badalamenti can you? The towering synth melodies and luscious instrumentation of that main theme can cut directly to the heart of anyone who’s watched David Lynch’s Twin Peaks, and this vinyl reissue arrives just in time for the broadcast of the new series. Reissued by Warner Bros.

Angelo Badalamenti
Twin Peaks – Fire Walk With Me

Can’t go wrong with this deeply classic soundtrack work from Angelo Badalamenti can you? David Lynch’s Twin Peaks spin-off film Fire Walk With Me features variations on the series’ key themes, plus new music and appearances from Julee Cruise and Thought Gang, which is Badalamenti’s musical project with Lynch. Vinyl reissue from Warner Bros.

BADBADNOTGOOD
Lavender (Night Fall Remix) feat. Kaytranada and Snoop Dogg

Collaborations are rarely more effective than this. The coming together of the rapidly ascending Kaytranada and rap veteren Snoop Dogg makes Lavender (Night Fall Remix) by BADBADNOTGOOD a perfect fusion of hip hop and electronica. Its video also captures the Western zeitgeist excellently - as S.D aims a good at a clown-style President Trump.

Bonnie 'Prince' Billy
Best Troubador

Best Troubador is a collection of Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy’s paying tribute to one of his musical heroes the late Merle Haggard. Best Troubador flips through the back pages of the career of the late country star bringing fresh takes on some of his best work. Easy to tell that this has been a labour of love for the long smitten Will Oldham.

Brix & The Extricated
Damned For Eternity

‘Brix vehemently spits out her lyrics’ is how Brix Smith-Start the lead singer of Brix & The Extricated is described on this the first official new release entitled Damned For Eternity. Pretty much a supergroup of renowned ex the Fall musicians, this record is a great piece to listen to when you’re feeling a bit angry. Also one for those the Fall fans wanting something a bit less oblique than Mr Smith's ramblings.

Buffalo Tom
Let Me Come Over - 25th Anniversary Edition

Flannel shirted Boston rockers Buffalo Tom get their 'Let Me Come Over' classic re-issued to celebrate its 25th anniversary. Full of grungy heartfelt songwriting and quiet loud dynamics the band's music is perfect angst ridden college rock to nurse you through the bad times. Comes with bonus album of the band blastin' through the album in London back in '92.

Cranes
Forever

The 1993 album by British shoegazers Cranes is now being made available again on vinyl! Forever is perhaps the best-loved of the band’s albums, with an all-round gorgeous sheen cast over the songs, some of which overwhelm with full-band power, and others of which peel things back to just piano and voice. Limited edition of 1000 records, reissued by Music On Vinyl.

Crescent
Resin Pockets

Resin Pockets is the first musical proclamation from Crescent in a decade. Matt Jones’ and his Bristolian crew have therefore had plenty of time to slowly craft these songs of everyday life, some of which were recorded in the great outdoors. Resin Pockets is a rather special-sounding record of intimate folk-pop that’ll charm your ears if you are new to Crescent. CD / LP on Geographic.

Feist
Pleasure

Leslie Feist comfortably forms part of the burgeoning spearhead of Canadian talent taking over the world. Nearly six years since her last release, Feist returns with an expansive and immersive full-length - crammed with organic production, sweet hooks and a cheeky Jarvis Cocker cameo. This is a creative feast.

Heather Trost
Agistri

Heather Trost, who, as one half of A Hawk And A Hacksaw, has hefty credentials from playing with Neutral Milk Hotel, Thor Harris, Beirut and more. Her solo work is now flourishing, with Agistri arriving on the back of a 7” and a cassette. The album is centred around the Greek island it is named for, and it's an infectious suite of stylistically-varied pop music. CD / LP on LM Dupli-Cation.

Homeboy Sandman
Veins

Veins is the latest ten-track release from Homeboy Sandman. Although he’s a pretty modest guy, his music is solid, real and relatable. A nice mix between hip-hop and rap that would fit in the 90’s amongst the greats of the genres, and it’s a little bit humorous in places. A great record available on Vinyl LP and released on Stones Throw.

James Horner
Avatar (Music From The Motion Picture)

Composer James Horner has the created the soundtracks to many iconic films, including Braveheart, Apocalypto, Aliens and Titanic. Returning to work with James Cameron for his epic-in-so-many-ways-record-breaking-sales-hit Avatar. Available on vinyl for the first time, packaged with 6-page insert, on Music On Vinyl.

Jefre Cantu-Ledesma
On The Echoing Green

Cutting his teeth with groups such as Portraits, The Alps, and collaborating with Liz Harris (Grouper) as Raum, San Francisco based multi-instrumentalist Jefre Cantu-Ledesma has been releasing albums consistently since. On The Echoing Green is full-on elation and uninhibited emotion. Through hazy tape fuzz and glistening guitar, a pop joy shines through and then washes away through a crackling hiss without really taking form, But it's not quite drone, just distant songs...

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard
Murder Of The Universe

King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard have already pretty much mastered that pulsing garage rocky sound, but they are still aiming to release five (yep, five) albums in 2017. Murder Of The Universe is the second, and it seems to be aiming to summon up the spirits of the 70’s hard rock gods, even going so far as to divide the record into three so-called ‘chapters’. Epic. Out on Heavenly. The sticker smells like vomit.

Molly Nilsson
Imaginations

Swedish-born, Berlin-dwelling, world-travelling singer Molly Nilsson is deep into her career now, and she is still feeling melancholy. Imaginations puts her feelings into sweet synth-pop songs that swoon moodily in the way only Molly Nilsson songs can: cool, catchy, nostalgic and distant-eyed. Imaginations is released by Night School.

Richard Dawson
Peasant

The new album from Richard Dawson is a notable new epic from the Tyneside master, featuring more guest musicians than ever before. Peasant’s songs are all set in the pre-medieval north-east, with each title naming a figure: ‘Weaver’, ‘Herald’, ‘Beggar’. It’s the most fully-fledged work yet by Dawson, and it's out on Weird World.

Sandy (Alex G)
Rocket

After doing many self recorded, produced and released records and cassettes, Philadelphia’s Alex G has rightly been snapped up by Domino for 2015’s Beach Music, and now they bring him back for his eighth full length. Rocket brings gorgeous suburban logfire songs, folk pop with a city backdrop. On vinyl and CD.

Skepta
Konnichiwa

Skepta’s Konnichiwa album should require no introduction: it won the Mercury Prize last year, and comes fully-loaded with colossal singles like ‘Shutdown’ and ‘That’s Not Me’. Modern classics from one of grime’s premier voices. Here we’ve got a vinyl edition of the record at last, thanks to Boy Better Know.

Swervedriver
Mezcal Head

Originally released in 1993 through A & M and Creation, now Swervedriver’s second album has been reissued through Music on Vinyl on numbered copies. Mezcal Head was lauded over by the music press at the time and is still seen as one of the best shoegaze albums today. Limited edition comes with booklet.

The Beatles
Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band - Anniversary Edition

A big old grand reissue of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, put together especially for the fifty year anniversary of the seminal Beatles record. Various editions of this psychedelic classic are available, with treats like early takes, stereo mixes and unreleased making-of documentary scattered around the editions. Choose between CD, 2CD, 2LP and six-disc super box-set versions!

The Cosmic Dead
Eccie Bam Yas, E?

The Cosmic Dead can always be relied upon to go mad with it, pushing the full weight of their Scottishness into their mind-expanding psychedelic rock. However, Eccie Bam Yas, E? sees them going mad in a different direction to usual, eschewing most of the noisey power for a fully-spaced out improvised set. Delivered, via the usual amazing titles, as an LP from Monorail Music.

The Membranes
Everyone's Going Triple Bad Acid, Yeah!: The Complete Recordings 1980-1993

After a 20 odd year hiatus, Blackpool based post-punkers The Membranes reunited in 2012 and have another brand new album coming out this year. Here we have a huge collection (i.e. everything from their discography in one box of CDs) that covers the initial outings of the group. Everything they recorded from 1980-1993, almost 100 songs from EPs, and singles that have never been on CD before. FFO Big Black, Sonic Youth.

The Pale Fountains
Something On My Mind

The Pale Fountains were of course the band formed at the beginning end of the long career of Mick Head (Shack/Michael Head and the Strands). They produced two fantastic albums in Pacific Street and Across the Kitchen Table but this anthology concentrates on rounding up their early singles and unreleased material adding in a few live tracks. They also throw a bonus live CD into the bargain.

The Terminals
Antiseptic

New album from New Zealand alternative rock veterans The Terminals! It’s been a straight decade since their previous album Last Days Of The Sun, during which time there has been a small personnel change. But Antiseptic is still pure Terminals, dark and gritty and special. Out on Ba Da Bing!, the American label that loves to represent the New Zealanders.

The Unthanks
Diversions Vol. 4: The Songs And Poems Of Molly Drake

Molly Drake was the mother of Nick Drake, and a remarkable songwriter in her own right. Her home recordings were finally released a few years ago, and now The Unthanks are reinterpreting the material for their Diversions series. With Molly’s daughter Gabrielle Drake on board, we even have some never-recorded songs played here, via her memories. LP release on RabbleRouser Music.
