Free Love

Available as double 12” LP from Soundway. South Africa seems to be full of forward thinking music producers at the moment and Fantasma is the latest from Spoek Mathambo. Working with DJ Spoko Free Love is a melding of hip hop, shangaan electro, and Zulu Maskandi music. Definitely check out for a hip hop paced version of Tshetsha Boys or M.I.A.

Franco Micalizzi
The Visitor

MONDO is pleased to reissue the original soundtrack to the cult classic THE VISITOR and because you've been so nice there's 8 tracks previously unreleased on vinyl in this exciting package. Pressed on 180 gram Black vinyl with randomly inserted Yellow & Orange swirl vinyl. Music composed, arranged and conducted by Franco Micalizzi.

Helado Negro
Double Youth

'Double Youth' is the new record from electronic songwriter Helado Negro, who draws on his base of equipment (including bass drum machines, to get your body moving and your brain brooding) in order to make a sound in the palettes of ambient, IDM and synth pop -- all meshed together to bare his little soul. 'Double Youth' is influenced by funk and electronica, but most important are its personal themes and expressions.

Henning Baer & Milton Bradley
K209 3

Innercity presents his catchily titled new record, ABABABABABABAS (Blue Lion Child), a dense and messy sound-wall that is ostensibly ambient, but practically a lot closer to noise. Textures all over the shop, generated with guitars and violins and put through big racks of something heavy. LP on Further Records.

Jamie T
Rabbit Hole

Ambivalent rock 'n' roll from nondescript cool guy songwriter Jamie T, who continues to try his hand at quick-witted lyrical missives on new single Rabbit Hole. There's that loose cannon of a pop rock tune -- though it is Jamie T, so it's not gonna go anywhere too wild -- and then the flip provides "Sycophant". Good for you Jamie.

Jean-Claude Vannier
Electro Rapide

Finders Keepers celebrate hitting 50 releases by going back to their first. As with FKR001 back in 2005, the label’s latest LP is a collection of rarities and exclusives exhumed from the vaults of legendary French songster Jean-Claude Vannier. Electro-Rapide is a set of lush pop orchestrations drawn from the period when Vannier’s star was at its highest point. Even while working with the likes of Serge Gainsbourg and Brigitte Fontaine, Vannier still found time to pen the insouciant Gallic shakes we find on Electro-Rapide. Everyone from Beck to Beach House owe a debt to Vannier.

Jean-Jacques Perrey & David Chazam

There is a rich tradition of odd-ball French electronic music. However from Jean-Pierre Massiera to Pierre Henry, none are as bizarre and utterly engaging as Jean-Jacques Perrey and at the grand age of 86, the master is releasing a new LP, ELA, along with the apprentice, David Chazam. Expect plenty of beautifully crafted electronic music with a huge sense of fun along with some previously unavailable pieces and some tracks from a live performance in Brussels. 180g vinyl LP. Limited to 500 copies.

Jozef Van Wissem
It's Time for You to Return

The dark, lute-driven folk of Josef Van Wissem found its place on the soundtrack for Jim Jarmusch's most recent evil vampire movie, but now it steps out on its own on this record where he seemingly thinks it's a good idea to rebrand himself as a vicar. These nine works see him working at a lethargic and mesmerising pace that entrances the listener. While based formally around Wissem as a lutenist, it also sees him as something of a conductor, with Jarmusch joining on guitar and Yasmine Hamdan on vocals.

Marquis Hawkes
Fifty Fathoms Deep

'Fifty Fathoms Deep' is Marquis Hawkes' debut record for the Houndstooth label. Hawkes lays down some house fundamentals for his tunes before breaking them into genre fragments, from funk to jazz and back to disco. Many of these tunes have yet to be heard on record, while some of them are already favourites in DJ sets from acts like Ben UFO.

Matt Pond PA
Emblems (10th Anniversary Edition)

Emblems by Matt Pond PA is a real fans' favourite and his breakthrough album. This 10th anniversary reissue is pressed on bone coloured vinyl (I guess that’s white vinyl, then). It is the first time the vinyl has been anything but black. The 15 track album will be packaged in a wide spine jacket so it’s easy to find amongst all your other LPs.

Blank Slate 004

Mirko is getting all up inside ya on this one. Blank Slate 004 is a big slab of mind melters from the New York label. These four tunes slip n slide around all the frequencies, from the sub-centric "Bergstrom" to the tripped out funk of "Ekaterina" on the A. On the flip he darkens the mood with the murky hatter "State And Revolution" and brings the tempo right down for the acidic sleaze groove of "Damperhof". Snap it up on 12" vinyl from Blank Slate.

MMM aka Errorsmith & Fiedel

There’s something about that kick drum that is unmistakable, that takes you straight back to your mullet and tracksuit. But then there’s the clever melody lines and hypnotizing arpeggiators that make Donna sound fresh, and you realize that Erik + Fiedel can take you back, past what you thought you knew about '90s old skool.

MMM aka Errorsmith & Fiedel
Jack 7

Two pieces; Jack and Syncro. This label hardly releases anything in relation to many imprints but when it does you'd be nuts not to grab an installment. Hand stamped double header of slamming, spacious DJ friendly future-techno from MMM label heads um....MMM. This duo will fill your party to the sweaty brim with the proper young beautiful people rather than your daft ugly lager'd up mates.

Moebius & Plank

The second collaborative LP between Dieter Moebius and Conny Plank gets reissued via Bureau B (Hans-Joachim Roedelius, Faust). 1981’s Material builds on the work of predecessor Rastakraut Pasta (yikes), bending Krautrock and experimental electronics into intriguing new forms. Everything from dub to disco to Vangelis-like synth compositions play into the Moebius & Plank aesthetic.

Moritz von Oswald Trio
Sounding Lines

Moritz von Oswald and Max Loderbauer are pretty well established and well respected players by now, but even so, they must hardly believe their luck that they’ve managed to pull Tony Allen into their trio for this album. On Sounding Lines, Allen adds trademark rhythmic flourishes to the electronics we are used to, with remarkable results. On Honest Jon’s.

Nu-Sound II Crew / Magnus I
Spilt EP

Both a reissue and a split EP, this is one of the things we love most at Norman Records. Throw in the fact that we’re talking about oldskool experimental 90s synthesizer driven electro, and we might be tempted to keep all these beautiful vinyl 12”s, including the sweet postcard of the Nu Sounds crew djing.

Old Man Gloom
The Ape Of God pt. I

Combining the talents of ISIS, Converge and Cave In, Old Man Gloom produce the monolithic and high intensity doom/sludge/metalcore hybrid racket you would expect. Releasing one album split into two parts, part one follows previous work much more closely. Although it’s still a daring mixture of extreme harsh noise, D-beat aggro and dense guitar. Coloured vinyl LP limited to 2000 worldwide.
