7" stockroom finds

It was ear-to-ear grins for Phil a few weeks ago as he scratted around the 7" shelves, finding loads of stuff we'd thought lost. Lots of rare and out-of-print stuff. Some of the best things went almost immediately but there are still plenty of small vinyl goodies to be found - and now with at least 25% off it all!

The Drums
Magic Mountain

"Magic Mountain" is a pretty ferocious Drums song, which sounds like an oxymoron for a band who sing in sweet voices and clean their guitar until they can see their face in it -- but hey, we haven't seen these dudes in three years. It's the opener to their new record 'Encyclopedia', which sees the band as a duo and promises to be a slightly more experimental take on a very fashionable pop band. Now you can grab "Magic Mountain" as a 7" with the b-side "Rules Of Your Life".

The Ex & Fendika
Lale Guma / Addis Hum

Riffs and rhythm in this infectious collaboration between The Ex and Fendika. Hailing from Ethiopia, Fendika use traditional instruments such as the one-string masinko and kobero drums to usher in a groovy vibe to The Ex’s trademark guitar chugs. It’s riotous good fun. Out on vinyl 7” from Ex Records.

Centrefold / Trendsetter

Brighton trio Tigerclub have a new single, ‘Centrefold’, which follows on from the success of ‘Blue Blood’ earlier this year. Limited to 500 vinyl copies, it is the first release on fellow Brightoners Blood Red Shoes’ brand new label Jazz Life. They are 90s revivalist grunge copyists and the singer sounds like a mixture of Kurt Cobain and that guy from Stereophonics.

Postcards From The Deep

Fruits de Mer originally hoped 'Postcards From The Deep' would be a compilation that definitively surveyed the freakbeat genre and put it on the map in the history of the British Invasion. But, you know, things change, and the record got twisted and turned into a collection of anything and everything: there's some surf, a bit of psych rock and a lot of those fuzzy sounds we've come to love. A little eclectic, are Fruits de Mer: the compilation includes the Loons, Schizo Fun Addict, The Luck of Eden Hall and a good few more.
