Captain Sky
The Adventures Of Captain Sky

Captain Sky recorded his debut album, The Adventures of Captain Sky in 1977 at the tender age of 21. He is highly regarded alongside the likes of George Clinton and Bootsy Collins for his Afro Funk stylings. His 12 minute epic 'Super Sporm' has been sampled by greats such as Public Enemy, Wu Tang Clan, Boogie Down Productions and De La Soul, to name but a few. Also, Captain Sky is a totally cool name.

Captain Sky
Pop Goes The Captain

Commercially, the reception to Captain Sky’s music was lukewarm. Other artists, however, have found him to be a rich source for samples with all sorts of rap and hip-hop acts from Public Enemy to De La Soul sampling his work. Pop Goes Captain Sky was his second album of Afro Funk grooves and was originally released in 1979.
