Blue Orchids
The Magical Record Of Blue Orchids

The Fall alumni the Blue Orchids have always been fond of an obscure garage classic and so set about recording an album which covers six rare rackets amongst its tracklist. Also present are covers from ore recent aficionados the Growlers and Crystal Stilts and we are promised a new song with lyrics scrawled in a notebook by Mark E Smith. Obviously during his lifetime Smith would have murdered Martin Bramah had he used them so perhaps post death Bramah is sort of safe.

Band Of Holy Joy
Neon Primitives

Band of Holy Joy’s latest studio album Neon Primitives attempts to capture the state of political and social unease gripping the country three years after the Brexit referendum - coincidentally, the last time that the band released a record. Rage and melody clash consistently on their latest record, which includes a weird Vincent Gallo cover...

Alison Statton & Spike
Bimini Twist

After Young Marble Giants and Weekend, Alison Statton's third major contribution to proto indie were her collaborations with Spike. In fact the duo had already worked together in Weekend but this collaboration is somewhat lesser known. After a few years of doing normal family type stuff the duo have reconvened for further recordings. Anyone who has heard Statton's voice knows that it's a beautiful unique thing so it will be lovely to hear it again after all these years.

Blue Orchids
Righteous Harmony Fist

Martin Bramah was an early member of The Fall, but unlike so many of those Fallen soldiers, he has continued to develop and grow the musical territory of his particular Fall period. With his band Blue Orchids, his latest release is the punchy-sounding Righteous Harmony Fist, full of rich, punkish, Manchester power. Out on Tiny Global Productions.

The Nightingales
Perish The Thought

The Nightingales formed in 1979. The post-punk Brummies, fronted by Robert Lloyd, were favourites of John Peel and John Robb. They split in 1986 after making three albums. They reformed in 2004 and Perish the thought will be their 7th post-reformation LP. The album features guest performances from members of Faust and the Lovely Eggs. 180g Vinyl LP or CD on Tiny Global Productions

Jon Langford / Martin Bramah
Worm In Your Ear / Stone Tumbling Stream (fast version)

Martin Bramah, an early and key Fall member, and key Mekons member Jon Langford present to you the results of a one-off recording session they had. Worm In Your Ear is a new song prepared especially for the occasion, whereas the B-side of this 7” is a sped-up take on a Bramah classic. Single on Tiny Global Productions.

The Nightingales with Vic Godard
Commercial Suicide Man / Ace Of Hearts / Underdog

The Nightingales, a post-punk outfit much beloved of Stewart Lee, collaborated with Vic Godard of The Subway Sect in the deep past, but recorded the material for this 7” in more recent years. A new Godard song, an old Nightingales song and a Giorgo Morodor cover is what you get here, each track getting the business done nice and quick. 7” single on Tiny Global Productions.

The Gist
Holding Pattern

The Gist were made up of main members Philip Moxham and Stuart Moxham of Young Marble Giants. After releasing a debut full length and a handful of EPs on Rough trade they were dropped but Moxham continued to record tirelessly. Holding Pattern is the first result of a trawling through these recordings and present bold off-kilter pop tracks, that are finally getting the release they deserve.

The Bitter Springs
Love Rat / Less Than Love

The Bitter Springs are a bunch of old punk geezers who sings about things like the Love Rat and feeling things like Less Than Love. They’re a lot of fun - loud, organ ridden, funny vocals, cheeky chappy bass lines and a great mix of ska, punk and garage. 7” vinyl limited to 250 copies.

Band Of Holy Joy
Funambulist We Love You

Lovely new stuff from great old group Band Of Holy Joy. Funambulist We Love You fully engages with the current state of affairs in 2017 (not always the case with bands known for their earlier reputation), and despite some slightly dodgy Brexit cheesiness in ‘To Leave Or Remain’, it generally comes off well. Out on Tiny Global Productions.

Blue Orchids
Skull Jam

Blue Orchids are a vintage Mancunian post-punk band (formed by Martin Bramah after he’d played on The Fall’s debut(!)) who’ve come back for more in recent years. New EP Skull Jam features a mixture of brand new songs, new versions of old songs, and a cover, and it bristles with energy and interest. 10” on Tiny Global Productions.

Band Of Holy Joy
Brutalism Begins At Home

Bad Punk/urban folk group Band of Holy Joy approach their longest stint of remaining active with a new release. Their new EP is titled “Brutalism Begins At Home” and it’s a 10” because of course, though it does include a download card. Featuring the most modern and British of urban hymns in “Removal Man”, the limited record precedes a 3xCD boxed set due in Spring on the same label.

Blue Orchids
Bomb Manchester! / Bomb Hamburg!

Manchester post-punk mainstays Blue Orchids unearth some heavily bootlegged live recordings from Manchester, 1981 and Hamburg, 1985 for this double CD. Two very different setlists, both sought after by fans and treated in the studio by Richard Trubridge and Stuart Moxham respectively. Limited edition, 300 copies worldwide and exclusive to independent stores so you’re better off being the early bird.

Nightingales
Become Not Becoming

New music from Nightingales, one of the very first of the original punk crew to start spitting and riffing. Of course, they’ve grown with the times, still sounding tight and fresh in 2016. Becoming Not Becoming is available as a six-track 10” release with a bundled download code: that’s the only format you’re getting and numbers are limited to 500, so jump quickly. Released by Tiny Global Productions.

Martin Bramah
The Battle Of Twisted Heel

Martin Bramah was in the original line-up of The Fall, 40 or so line-ups ago. In fact, he was the singer until King MES took the throne! Mark gets a dissing on The Battle Of Twisted Heel, Bramah’s 2006 solo record, which was deeply rare up until now. This reissue on Tiny Global Productions is arguably the first proper release of this quality material, as the first ‘release’ was less than 30 copies...

Blue Orchids
Awefull

Blue Orchids are a sort of alternate-universe vision of what The Fall could have been: they are comprised of the original line-up of the band after Mark E Smith headed off to form Fall’s mark 1, 2, 3, 4… There is certainly an early Fall vibe to Awefull, but pushing in a somewhat more psychedelic direction. This is the first time the record has been reissued on vinyl.

Blue Orchids
The Once and Future Thing

Blue Orchids are a sort of alternate-universe vision of what The Fall could have been: they are comprised of the original line-up of the band after Mark E Smith headed off to form Fall’s mark 1, 2, 3, 4… The Once And Future Thing is an unexpected brand new album, decades after the last! Although the cover art doesn’t look so brand new… Out on Tiny Global Productions.
