Lo Kindre
Chlorophytum

Lo Kindre is the work of one Daniel Magee whose interests include dubby electronics, West German drumming, and vintage Italian football commentary. Chlorophytum has Magee merging all of these for 12th Isle in a way that is hugely playful and engrossing. Magee has previous released on Optimo Music.

Dices + AEM
Rhythm-Cascade

Dices & АЭМ (Flaty/Dada Ques) pool their talents on Thoughtstream, 11 tracks of sequenced, spacey electronica fresh outta Petersburg. The guys generously considered the home listener and the club DJ and managed to cover both bases admirably. Fluffy synths emulate ‘70s library music, propulsive rhythms summon up ghosts of late-'90s Carl Craig. 1st LP on Glasgow's 12th Isle. Smashing.

XYR
El Dorado EP

After making a strong start with albums from Dices & A.E.M and Cru Servers, Glasgow-based label 12th Isle turns its attention to the sultry tones of Russian dreamweaver Vladimir Karpov. El Dorado was originally released on cassette back in 2015, but now the finest pieces in this immersive ambient puzzle have been collated for a thoroughly deserved vinyl outing.

Best Available Technology
Enginetics & Plasmalterations

Portland’s Best Available Technology makes homemade electronic music that is born out of the world of noise, drone and unpredictable electronics, but that wonders in places into some dubbed-out techno vibes and bass surges you’d want to hear on a club PA. Enginetics & Plasmalterations sounds playful and explorative, even from the depths of its darkness. On 12th Isle.

Palta & Ti
Palta og Ti på den Tolvte Ø

Aarhus-based pseudonym enthusiasts Palta (aka Natal Zaks, Central, Brio, Escar, Soft Talk etc.) and Ti (aka Milán Zaks, DJ Sports) follow last year’s cassette Hej Australien and 12” EP’en Andre Hjem with this fellow for 12th Isle. Quite hard to pin this one down, but it’s some sort of mucky, ultra-relaxed house. A1 is an extremely chill tempo with offbeat FX and understated chords, A2 sounds like early B12 doing dub and B1 gets a bit krauty with super funky bass and cute synths.

Cru Servers
Blubber Totem

Experimental and deftly leftfield meanderings bubble forth from a hazy analog pond, the Glaswegian production duo Cru Servers morph from the abstract and shapeless to ambient leftfield hip hop beats from beneath the earth’s crust and muffled house beats with eccentric synthesis and sample skewing. Joy in free experimentation. LP on 12th Isle.

RAMZi
Pèze-Piton

Woozy, mid-fi leftfield electro from Berlin’s RAMZi. A global ear informs the sample-laden cratediggery of Pèze-Piton, with chugging, tropical timbres that challenge straightforward cultural signification. This seems to be the optimistic world music narrative at play - colourful, atmospheric and groovy tones underline themes of intercultural harmony and kindness.
