Slender
Time On Earth

Slender are an experimental three-piece from NYC. You must not, whatever you do, confuse them with the hard rock band from Montreal with the same name, it will only lead to massive disappointment. La Vida Es Un Mus bring you their latest offering, Time On Earth, which blends discordant noise and distant melodies in a kinda nice way.

Rakta
Falha Comum

Deeply tripped out to the point of being terrifying album from Rakta. Despite a change on the drums, Falha Comum still manages to be as potent as they've ever been. Remarkable given how together you need to sound to pull off music like this. Few other bands make psych-rock sound like it's slowly filling the room, consuming everything.

Constant Mongrel
Living In Excellence

Although not all surfers are Australians, it is sometimes said that every Australian is by definition a surfer. Aussie punkers Constant Mongrel make no effort to disprove this bland oversimplification. Living in Excellence mixes their punk violence with a laid-back surfer’s attitude, and then lace the result with decent synths and saxes.

Ojo Por Ojo
Ojo Por Ojo

Punk label La Vida Es Un Mus Discos (Glue, Good Throb) release this angry statement from Mexican trio Ojo Por Ojo. Burning through ten tracks in about as many minutes, the group’s self-titled debut LP is full of pent-up fury about the state of their hometown of Mexico City. The group’s punchy combination of snot-nosed punk, hardcore and a little grindcore cites Parabellum and Nerorgasmo as influences.

The Astronauts
It's All Done By Mirrors

Originally released in 1983, It’s All Done By Mirrors was the second album by British post-punk band The Astronauts. They were led by the aptly named Mark Astronaut whose lyrical prowess sees him mentioned in the same breath as Bob Dylan and Ray Davies by those in the know. It’s All Done By Mirrors is, without doubt, the band’s career high-point which mixes a kind of folk-punk with a pop touch and poetic lyrics.

Anxiety
Wild Life

Glaswegian punk brutalists Anxiety throw four more tracks at the wall, in the hope that the grimy song-sludge will stick. Wild Life is distorted and nasty-sounding and messy, yet it transmits a certain negative feeling with crystal clarity. Four track, seven inch EP, released by the La Vida Es Un Mus label.

The Nurse
Discography

Alongside The Comes, The Nurse were the one of the first female fronted hardcore punk bands to come out of Japan. Releasing only two EPs in 1983 and 1984 they have been pushed into the realms of legend really. Thankfully La Vida Es Un Mus have seen this and managed to find the recordings to put them together on a single vinyl.

Bad Breeding
Divide

Crusty, angry, and feverish punk from….Stevenage of all places. Pushing the punk, Bad Breeding have self-released most of their output and have now turned to Hackney based label La Vida Es Un Mus (E-150, Limp Wrist, Early Fucked Up) to release their second album in under a year. After all there is a lot to be angry about.

Anxiety
Anxiety

Anxiety are a proper-hard hardcore band from Glasgow, and this is their debut release. They have the speed and ferocity of hardcore punk (9 tracks in 20 minutes: yep, that passes the hardcore test), but also the sonic-fuckedness of a lot of noise rock. Everything is messed-up and uncomfortable, and it's wonderful. Vinyl release on La Vida Es Un Mus.

Semi
Go Viral

Is this man screaming in severe, agonising pain? Quite possibly. But ultimately Go Viral is the disordered release of creativity from London's revered and anarchic noise-thrashers, Semi. Featuring blisteringly abrasive guitars, monstrous vox and freakishly distorted production values, this is not for the faint-hearted.

Good Throb
Good Throb

Proper raw punk aggression from Good Throb, full of grit and sinew. This 4-track 7” includes ‘SCUM’, a Valerie Solanas tribute, and ‘The Queen Sucks Nazi Cock’. Sadly the last issue from this brutal crew for the foreseeable future. Good Throb is packed in vigorous artwork along with a poster.

Belgrado
Obraz

Belgrado are one of Barcelona’s finest post-punk groups, and Obraz is their third album. Sometimes they apply the lessons of dub in a way that might remind you of The Clash; at other times, they go full coldwave. They always have sharp edges though. 10-track LP on La Vida Es Un Mus, featuring an illustrated booklet.

Mystic Inane
EP's of M/I LP

Wild punk action from New Orleans. Mystic Inane sound like they’ve got themselves wasted on some homemade hooch and felt the need to flail around in a studio shouting at the walls. Needless to say, that means they are good. EPs of M/I LP is a collection of three previous 7”s, upgraded to full LP status. On La Vida Es Un Mus.

Efialtis
Κολοσσιαίο Γυναικείο Κεφάλι (Colossal Female Head)

Efialtis are an international trio with strong femme power and a fierce approach. Songs are sung in Greek and played in gnarly punk style: tight but not sleek, with a good deal of grit and anger sizzling out of the speakers. Κολοσσιαίο Γυναικείο Κεφάλι, or, in English, Colossal Female Head, is a 3-track 7” released by La Vida Es Un Mus.
