Following will.i.am in having a name that is also a website address, SPIME.IM release Exaland. More than anyone else the band bring to mind the multimedia collective japes of Amnesia Scanner, even playing in the same musical ball pit as the Berlin duo. They also have a handle on vocal manipulation that recalls Holly Herndon.

Arabian Nights

Swiss label -OUS (NHK yx Koyxen, Senking) release a live album by Bit-Tuner. The material that comprises Arabian Nights has travelled far to make it to you. Using field recordings and samples of the sounds of Cairo as a starting point, Bit-Tuner combined these with his own electronics and productions for this forty-minute live set at Zurich’s Helsinki Klub. The resulting record is reminiscent of hat-to-the-side producers like El-P.

To Alter and Affect

Switzerland’s -OUS Records (IOKOI, Senking) present a new seven-track tape by Italian producer Furtherset. To Alter And Affect seems to take its own advice. The twinkling modulars and synthesised voices of numbers like ‘Ask Your Existential Core’ slowly morph and shift as the track progresses until they end up somewhere far away from where they started. The effect is reminiscent of Fatima Al Qadiri, Clams Casino and LP1-era FKA Twigs.

NHK yx Koyxen
Parallel Tempo

NHK yx Koyxen, the producer with the most pronounceable name in the business, presents a new EP of his unique work. Parallel Tempo’s five tracks takes that electronic music you like so much and pulls it apart into jagged new forms, some of them more danceable than others. 12” EP from the -OUS label.

Step in digital post-reality with IOKOI, who makes her debut with this album. Liquefy is electronic pop that slithers around what you expect to hear, deploying beautifully strange textures and production design. The vibe is Holly Herndon-inspired, approaching a state of post-humanity. Out on the -OUS label.

Waiting Alpine

Senking is based in Cologne and has released on Raster-Noton, so cool, clipped digital productions come naturally to him. The 2 new tracks presented on Waiting Alpine have a big underwater vibe: each element has a deep reverberation, as if echoing around the ocean floor. 7” on -OUS in a striking holographic sleeve.
