Patio
Essentials

Nearly three years after mini-album Luxury, the long-awaited debut album from Brooklyn-based punks Patio is finally here. Taking cues from British post-punk acts and modern-day acts such as Bodega and Shopping, the ten tracks and 26 minutes that make up Essentials aim at the nitty-gritty of life in 2019.

Gold Dime
Nerves

Gold Dime is the latest incarnation from Andriya Ambro (formerly of Talk Normal), joining forces with Ian Douglas-Moore and Jessica Ackerley they draw on their noise rock past and refine the writing into a more expansive and wide ranging sound and song structure. This is certainly “Unapologetic art rock”, but who is apologising?

The Spookfish
Black Hole

Instead of tackling external political or cultural phenomenons, The Spookfish is a candid documentation of a personal journey - representing inward emotions throughout. Dan Goldberg's impressive debut offering, Black Hole, is a creation moulded by the East Coast journeys of the creative New Yorker.

Aa
ZebrAa

Three different drummers appear on ZebrAa, drawn from throughout Aa’s career to date. So many drummers! That means that inventive percussion is at the heart of the record: electronics and vocals have plenty to add, but triple-drummer polyrhythms are damn hard to overshadow. Vinyl release on the Fire Talk label for this wonderfully catchy noisemakery.

Earring
Tunn Star

Earring are a very fine guitar / drums duo from Chicago, presenting their debut full-length on Brooklyn’s Fire Talk label. Tracks like ‘Dark Heart’ almost recall Codeine in their slow speed and thick heft, but the pair are nimble on their feet elsewhere. Top end noisy-fuzzed guitar action here from a band to keep an eye on!
