Wah Wah Wino Vinyl, CD & tapes from this label at Norman Records
Davy Kehoe’s 2017 release Short Passing Game was a dance release made with the heart of Neu! or Suicide - though judging by the amped-up speed this was a heart undergoing rapid palpitations. The speed on The Pilot is not quite as physically alarming, but the synergy of styles is just as potent, resembling a stretched out band jam as much as any electronic release.

If you thought it wasn’t possible for the people behind Wah Wah Wino to get any more obtuse, then you were wrong. Wino-D goes a step further than even their previously erstwhile releases had. No track titles, no info, no nothing, and dropped a week after the announcement. There is, however, a two-minute preview clip up on Soundcloud that features a perversely funky techno track built from ping-pong percussion and this weird chugging sound. It's sort of like Pye Corner Audio. Sort of. I reckon it’s worth a punt.
Irish label Wah Wah Wino keep their head below water on the internet it seems. After three releases of playful leftfield house tracks they are putting themselves on full display with a compilation of a load of their artists. Expect the weird and wonderful. Includes Gombeen & Doygen, Little Movies, OD Dingus, and label head Dark Delight.
With a colossal cavalcade of gear behind him, Davy Kehoe has produced his debut album. Short Passing Game is driven by drum machines, but Kehoe layers up a wonderful web of instrumental melodies and textures to make really rather developed and entrancing compositions. 12” EP on the Wah Wah Wino label.
The Wah Wah Wino label present a sparky bit of modular synth malarkey from the duo of Morgan Buckley and Ben Donohoe. The Dublin / Galway pair serve up a knotty mess of raw and abstract tones that coalesce into vivid and rhythmic patterns. Has some of the noisy glee of early Cluster. Extremely limited, apparently.
The enigmatic Wah Wah Wino label continue a killer run of house excursions with this white label 12” vinyl titled Magpie/Buzzard. These two tunes are heavy enough for the dance-floor, but are also extremely weird. Jazzy drum programming, off-kilter rhythms and squeaky melodies set the surreal tone.
Extremely limited white label 12” vinyl on the Wah Wah Wino label. Fly In The House (You Should Have Known)/Your Love Is Tepid is a mysterious release containing two groovy and modern house tunes with plenty of raw production touches. This Dublin label might be secretive, but when the tunes are this strong, who cares?
Another fine 12” from fresh new label Wah Wah Wino. This material is attributed to Various, so we can’t tell you much other than to open your ears: the 2 tracks Chartered / Unchartered take a probing approach to the grooves and textures of dubby house / techno, with rather tasty results. Strictly limited edition white label 12”, only one purchase per customer!
