Strange Ranger
Remembering The Rockets

Remembering The Rockets, the third LP from Portland/Montana/Philadelphia trio Strange Ranger (even the band don’t seem to agree on where they hail from), has some lovely artwork. Just look at the warm, dusky glow on those suburban streets. This halcyon image sets listeners up neatly for this record of wistful indie-pop, one that touches equally on acts like Alex G, The Lemonheads and Modest Mouse. Remembering The Rockets is a good one for the coming summer.

Strange Ranger
Daymoon

Strange Ranger are a Portland band who swagger their way through their cool, laid-back indie sound. Daymoon is their second full-length album, following a previous record under the name of Sioux Falls, and it is a well-considered, more precise listen from the group. Daymoon is released by the Tiny Engines label.

Wild Pink
Wild Pink

Wild Pink are a new name to add to the kind of loquacious, literate band who take their cue from 90's slacker indie but add something magical to the brew. Recorded by Justin Pizzoferrato (Dinosaur Jr., Pixies) this self titled debut promises to follow in the footpaths of the likes of Grandaddy and Spoon in creating a well thought out but laid back brand of slacker pop.

Yeesh
Confirmation Bias

Yeesh isn’t the name of Kanye’s next LP, it’s a Chicago based indie band and Confirmation Bias is their second LP to bring stomping riffs and wailing vocals with plenty of feedback. It’s heavy, raw indie rock and grunge with a lo-fi feel. You really get a feeling that they would be awesome live from the recordings.
