Singu
Siki

Psychedelic jazz improvisations from Hiroshima based duo, Singu. Siki has Kiyo and Keta Ra furiously duelling using drums, keyboard and guitar. For all the chaos, there's a surprising amount of space in their music, mostly thanks to Kiyo's drumming very humbly being a little quieter in the mix than you'd usually get from such a virtuoso.

James Booth
Personal Growth

The largely ambient-leaning Growing Bin takes a slight turn towards the armchair dance floor with this excellent mini-LP from 100% Silk regular James Booth. The mellow drift of pads and keys is still the primary focus, but there’s space for slender house music drum patterns to thread through the folds of synthesized splendour that Booth unfurls across five go-deep-and-stay-home sizzlers.

Merge
Kashan

Like your jazz-funk odysseys served with a heap of melody and crunchy bass playing? Come on in. Kashan recalls the more lounge-lizard end of Weather Report as its three tracks move nimbly from motif to improv and back again. ‘III’ features a thick, chatty bassline that will have Jaco Pastorius nodding approvingly from beyond the grave. 12” out just in time for Xmas on Growing Bin (Moon B).
