Planet Asia
The Golden Buddha

Boston’s Brick Records (MF Doom, Statik Selektah) drops some mighty throwback goodness from Planet Asia. The beats provided by izznyce have that same balance of class and whomp that tends to bring the best out of Ghostface Killah. The snare on ‘Hood Legends’, for instance, sounds more like someone shooting at an oil barrel. Aided by the likes of AZ and Hus Kingpin, Planet Asia chats some well-worn stuff about the rap game in the style of Nas, Ghostface et al. Good to see that he’s still going strong after nearly two decades.

Every Hero Needs A Villain

Czarface is a hip-hop trio that pulls together the talents of Inspectah Deck, 7L and Esoteric. They love their comic-book / super-hero culture, which comes through both in their fluid lyrics and through the frankly incredible artwork for Every Hero Needs A Villain: a full, 70 page comic book comes with both the CD and the Vinyl.

Blacastan & Stu Bangas
The Uncanny Adventures Of Watson & Holmes

Cinematic underground hip-hop from Blacastan (of Demigodz) and beatmaker Stu Bangas, also featuring guest MCs like Ill Bill, Tragedy Khadafi, Nutso and Apathy. The Uncanny Adventures Of Watson & Holmes has been four years in the making, and every sample and beat and flow sits just right as a result. Out on Brick Records.
