Das Fluff
1 Cent + Postage / Shut The Fuck Up

For a good number of years now, Berlin-based Das Fluff have been attracting crowds from every corner of the British Isles to their shows in London’s club scene with their brand of dark electronica. 1 Cent + Postage / Shut the Fuck Up is their debut single and is available on 7” vinyl on Metal Postcard.

Ali Muhareb
Walkin’ / Thunder & Lightning

It has been said that Ali Muhareb has a similar twisted, creative brain as the Flaming Lips overlord Wayne Coyne. Muhareb, who hails from Portland, Oregon, makes electronic music and has been touring the world extensively. Walkin’/Thunder & Lightning is his debut release and is available on 7” vinyl.

Gravy Murphy
The World Is Your Moisture

The World Is Your Moisture is the debut full-length album of the queasily-named Gravy Murphy, an Australian producer of shuffling electronica and carefully curated bleeps. All with a decent bit of analogue synth heft behind it, no doubt thanks to his music engineering education. Vinyl release on the Metal Postcard label.

Drakkar Band
Drakkar '74

Drakkar Band may be new to you, but they earned their stripes in their native Cambodia with this amazing portion of grooving psychedelic rock. The music was recorded live in the studio, with accordingly high energy. Previously released in 1974 (naturally) as a cassette, Drakkar 74 is deservedly now finding its way to an LP release on Metal Postcard.

Soda Eaves
Like Drapes Either Side

When Melbourne's Jack Core isn't guitarring in his ambient rock band Hot Palms, he home-records solo reverb soaked indie pop numbers, moonlighting as Soda Eaves so his jealous bandmates don't catch wind of what he's up to. There's eight songs here, wistful stuff with sparse synths and snippets of field recorded sound and naive Australian-accented vocals.

ROC
ROC

The eponymous debut by ROC was originally released in 1996 on Setanta. The electronica three piece, who had formed some 13 years prior, were joined by members of Radiohead and the album was highly regarded. It earned them a deal with Virgin who promptly dropped them after poor sales of their sophomore effort. ROC is reissued on vinyl LP with download code.

Jerry Rogers
Point Of Contact

White Fang drummer Jerry Rogers drops the boisterous DIY punk stuff, swaps drums for guitars, synths and, um, a drum machine, and gets all playful and lo-fi on this, his debut solo album. The sleeve says it all, really: a day-glo party effort that could've graced a ZX Spectrum game cover in the 80s.

The Vinyl Records
Ready Set Go / Apocryphal

Himalayan punk rock with new wave influences from the wonderfully titled Vinyl Records, because why not? This 7" single collects two of the band's choice cuts, with "Ready Set Go" storming through what sounds like a Ramones chord sequence going down newer, more tonally interesting avenues. The lyrics are full of delightful punk rock clichés and the riffs slay plenty. On the flip side is "Apocryphal".

White Fang
Full Time Freaks

Flying on the coat tails of new and highly regarded US bands such as Parquet Courts and Real Estate, White Fang are announcing themselves with their debut album Full Time Freaks. The lo-fi punk four piece from Portland, Oregon site their only influence as Creedence Clearwater Revival, but I would advise that CCR fans approach with caution. Full Time Freaks is available on vinyl LP.

Pink Skull
Clean Plate – Turkish Delight

An interesting selection of playful electronica from Philadelphia collective Pink Skull. Light on beats but heavy on atmosphere and unique sounds Clean Plate: Turkish Delight keeps you coming back for a little more each time. Drifting and unobtrusive but always intriguing, not least thanks to the tantalising titles. Out on gatefold vinyl LP from Metal Postcard.

Woolen Men
Dog Years

Dog Years is how The Woolen Men have chosen to define to their early period as this is a collection of singles and EPs from their formative epoch. The indie band from Portland, Oregon have taken their cues from Australian bands such as The Clean, The Chills and The Bats to fuse together eighties and nineties alternative influences into their own distinguishing sound. Dog Years is available on CD.

Wrong
Artefacts

Moroder-inspired space synth from one half of The Emergency. Melbourne-based Morgan McWaters a.k.a WORNG has a stab at far out techno that sits somewhere between Jean Michelle Jarre and Steve Hauschildt’s solo albums. Cosmic yet structured. Out on Flexi Disc with Free Download on Metal Postcards.
