J.H. Guraj
Introspection / Migration

First recorded way back in 2014 but set aside for years in favour of other projects, including acclaimed albums such as Underrated Glances At The Edge of Town and touring with Be My Delay, Dominique Vaccaro has finally put the finishing touches to his epic J.H. Guraj record, Introspection / Migration.

Hallelujah!
Wanna Dance

Wanna Dance is the new album by Italy’s premier noise punks Hallelujah! And dance, you’ll wanna, well, maybe. The band don’t seem to bothered about that, though. What’s in a title anyway? Here, the band swap guitars for synths to play abrasive sci-fi rhythms and sees them casting their creative net into the world of proto-synth punk experiments.

Metro Crowd
Planning:

Ah the commute. The daily mass migration of workers away from their homes, and away from their loved ones. You either love it.. actually you probably just hate it. Commuters! Metro Crowd see your struggle, your stress, your anxiety. Planning: sees the band channeling those feelings into industrial post-punk reminiscent of Chrome and Cabaret Voltaire.

Qlowski
Pure As Fear

Maple Death Records (The Wound, His Clancyness) with a dose of short, sharp garage rock here. Qlowski impressed with their eponymous 2016 cassette, even making it onto a Bandcamp article about the best releases of the year ('so far'- it was June at the time). Follow-up EP Pure As Fear sees the Italian group everything that made that the first record so good and run with it. That means influences of Aussie punk, golden-age CBGB’s and Killing Joke are still clearly audible.

Havah
Contravveleno

Havah are an Italian band who, for their third album of stern and cold post-punk, have decided to delve into their country’s dark history of Nazi occupation and Fascism. Contravveleno is thus an intense listen, with the industrial and cold-wave dials turned up to the maximum. Released by Maple Death Records in a limited edition of 300 LPs.

Hallelujah! / Holiday Inn
Split

Two Italian groups share some 7” wax on the latest split from Maple Death Records. Holiday Inn play stripped-back synth-punk and Hallelujah! play full-band noise punk, but what we can’t stress enough is how lo-fi, overdriven and just generally blasted both acts sound. Messy and nasty and ever so much fun. Hand-stamped 7”s.

Havah / His Electro Blue Voice
Split

It’s always a good move for noisy bands to put out split EPs. There is something cute and reassuring about the way bands can split records on which everybody sounds really angry and makes pretty music. And then there’s the whole limited edition (500 copies!) green vinyl thing going on which just makes this release even more unresistable.
