Livingmore
Show Me Light and Love / Winter Wonderland

It's that time of year again. The beginning of the influx of indie Christmas 7"s. The Snowflakes label is one of the biggest manufacturer of these and here we have L.A rockers Livingmore doing a double A Side. One one side is an original, heartwarmingly dedicated to the singer's grandmother who like a lot of ladies her age likes to keep the Christmas traditions alive. On the flip is a romp through Winter Wonderland. The band sound like Blondie crossed with the Everly Brothers it says here so that's kinda Christmassy, right?

Green Seagull
First Snow of Winter / God Rest Ye Merry Gentleman

Christmas. It's only October and we've started arguing about it already here at Normans. Baroque psychedelic band Green Seagull already have things sorted though with a two song Christmas extravaganza. On the A side an original which talks about the comforts of the festive season (high winds, exhausts, snarl ups etc). Over on the B they do an organ drenched version of God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen. Arrrgghhhhh.....

Rachael Dadd
Spark Illuminate / The Holly And The Ivy

It's Christmas 7" season and here's the latest by folky singer songwriter Rachel Dadd. She takes the image of the holly and the ivy as a base for two festive themed songs. Firstly she covers The Holly and the Ivy the actual 19th century folk song but also supplies an original song Spark Illuminate to warm your heart over the yuletide season.

Oh! Gunquit
High On Xmas / Don’t Believe In Christmas

Another Christmas 7" this time from the peculiarly named Oh! Gunquit (name inspired by the Maine harbour town of Gunquit) who make two Christmas party anthems for your festive mayhem.  Their sound is described as a "vibrant blend of new-wave vicious psych-surf, garage-punk, exotica & rock ‘n roll" which sounds like the sort of thing to get even non dancing people like me up on the dancefloor.

Hannah Peel
Find Peace / Rebox – I Believe in Father Christmas

Oh shit. There's mention of Christmas. We haven't decorated at all and are completely unprepared for this development. Indie folk artist Hannah Peel has a new 7" out that, as always, showcases her commanding and unwavering vocal and the intricate melodies that go with it. That there's a tune called "I Believe In Father Christmas" is totally worrying, but it'll be okay in the end.

A merry Christmas single (part of the Snowflake label’s Christmas Singles Club in fact) from Juniore, whose voice you may know from appearances with such acts as Bot’Ox and Jackson. De Saison / Pour Noel, Cette Année finds her supported with a 60’s pop style band, possibly the best musical style for a Christmas single. Includes a Mariah Carey cover.

Terminal Gods
Boundless

Terminal Gods are keeping the sound of Goth Rock alive well into the 21st century, with a strong Sisters Of Mercy influence. Boundless is their Christmas single, all about Father Christmas. Nancy Wallace
January / 200 Miles

Travelled folkie Nancy Wallace has released a great deal of rural, naturally motivated material since stepping away from Owl Service and the Memory Band, and now she celebrates the most appropriate of folk seasons: winter. These songs are dedicated to the December period, recorded for the Snowflakes Christmas Club project, and show Wallace acting as both a modern folk songwriter -- with stark original "January" -- and a traditionalist working with standards on "200 Miles".
