Ar Kid

Bristol basshead Lamont returns to Swamp 81 sister label 81, with a deadly new 12” that features his unique, skewed take on the grime tradition. “Ar Kid” brings the snarling Slowie into the fold to spit bars over a crafty, darkside beat, while kwam steps up on the slow and wobbly “Ships” with a raw, personal reflection on human interaction that stands out amidst the swagger of Lamont’s on-point production.

Yrs Ago / Animus

After getting his initial releases down with Fulcrum and School Records London’s Paleman found himself right at home on Loefah’s Swamp 81 imprint. The two tracks here are precise and minimal electro drum tracks, with everything perfectly placed never too much going on, every element acting as percussive backbone.

Oun_C is the latest emission from Swamp81’s sub-label 81. Chunky steps up with two firmly bass-loaded rollers. I don’t know what the mysterious title refers to, but it could be the same thing the enigmatic and distant blurs of vocals are on about… No need to worry though, this 12” bypasses the need to think by going straight to your feet.
