Smuggler Brothers
Musione

This one's for the fans of the hot new things, 'library music'. Smuggler Brothers are from Sicily, and so are perfectly pitched to draw from Italy's rich history of library music, while incorporating influences from all the cultures who touch the mediterranean. Musione is progressive-funk that's not afraid to give itself over to other musical traditions.

Fabio Fabor
B81 - Ballabili Anni 70

Fabio Fabor is one of those highly creative Italians from back in the day, who could turn their hand to whatever atmospheres the library music music libraries needed that day. B 81 - Ballabili Anni 70 combines a number of his pieces covering a range of ground, always with that weird and creative library touch to them. Vanishingly rare music now made available, thanks to the Schema label.

G.Coscia - Formini
B85 - Ballabili Anni 70

G. Coscia (aka Serie Usignolo) and Formini are a pair of those highly creative Italians from back in the day: the sorts who could turn their hand to whatever atmospheres the library music music libraries needed that day. B85 - Ballabili Anni 70 is a suite of orchestral pop music cues for various Italian film / TV productions, all full of interesting twists. Vanishingly rare music now made available thanks to the Schema label and their SCB Series.

The Group
The Feed-Back

This is some esoteric interaction from The Group aka Gruppo di Improvvisazione Nuova Consonanza. The Feed-Back is the 1970 album from the Italian all star band. It's an outing in freedom which has a deep back beat through out which the other players riff on. A blending of free jazz, freer funk and avant-garde ideals. Out on vinyl LP from Schema SCB Series.

Rovi
Discomusic

There actually is no end to the talents of Piero Umiliani. The veteran Italian soundtrack and library music composer apparently also had a little sideline in disco production, using the name Rovi. Discomusic is a great little suite of sweet groovy action, with all the cool odd touches you’d expect from Umiliani. Reissued via Schema’s SCEB Series.

S. Brugnolini / G. Carnini
UST 7010 - Beat Drammatico Underground Pop Elettronico

The deeper you dig, the more apparent it becomes that almost everything in music was anticipated by obscure Italians cranking out mad library music in a studio somewhere. UST 7010 - Beat Drammatico Underground Pop Elettronico is a set of amazing, weird, groovy and exploratory electronic tracks by S. Brugnolini and G. Carnini. Reissued by Schema as part of their SCEB Series.

Fabio Fabor
B82 - Ballabili Anni 70

Fabio Fabor is one of those highly creative Italians from back in the day, who could turn their hand to whatever atmospheres the library music music libraries needed that day. B82 - Ballabili Anni 70 is the second of two releases compiling a number of his pieces. The selection covers a lot of stylistic ground, but always with that weird and creative library touch to them. Vanishingly rare music now made available, thanks to the Schema label and their SCB Series.

Zalla
Suspense

Another archival re-issue from the seemingly bottomless well of work produced by Piero Umiliano.  It's another album of library music that swings brought to life in his Rome laboratories. There's a big percussive element to these tracks which are spread over a double LP for maximum sound enjoyment but this is such as essential as all the other Umiliano re-issues in recent times.

Blue Marvin Orchestra
Codice d'Amore Orientale

Codice d’Amore Orientale is an old Italian film that looks like it might be just a little bit erotic. Film composer Alberto Baldan Bembo plays up to context by adopting the moniker Blue Marvin and directing his musicians to play some pretty wild funky experimentalism that could certainly get you in the mood. LP reissue as part of Schema’s SCEB Series.

Rovi (Piero Umiliani)
Due Temi con Variazioni

Rovi is one of the many names of Piero Umiliani: perhaps he wanted to go anonymous on this one because Due Temi con Variazoni, the Luigi Scattini film that this music originally soundtracked, is basically pornography a la Mondo. Of course, Umiliani can make that work no problem, supplying fifteen tracks of funky jazzy action sure to satisfy any listener. LP reissue as part of the the Schema SCEB Series.
