Island
When We’re Still EP

When We’re Still EP is the latest music from Island following their 2018 debut LP, Feels Like Air. The London band trade in earnest indie singer/songwriter type stuff, which is no doubt, destined to be entertaining large crowds at arenas nationwide in the not too distant future. The EP is a mix of new and old material and includes the track Lyra, the first track written by the four-piece.

Dahlia Sleeps
Love, Lost

Dahlia Sleeps are an electronic duo made up from producer Luke Hester and vocalist Lucy Hill.  Their music has had bloggers likening them to acts such as London Grammar, Cat Power, The xx and Daughter. Love, lost  is certainly filled with emotional hooks and delivered with a fragile and soulful touch. Transparent vinyl 12" EP on Beatnik Creative.

Eliza Shaddad
Future

Eliza Shaddad has threatened an LP for a while now. In Future she's come through with a debut full-length for Beatnik Creative that makes good on the promise of her early EPs. Shaddad confesses to listening to plenty of Hole and Portishead in the run up to Future, and their influence is palpable here. See also PJ Harvey and Lyla Foy. You’ve got the keys, now Shaddad and drive.

Matthew and Me
Startpoint

Like your guitars woozy and twinkling? Sucker for a lush soundscape? Prefer Bon Iver before he discovered auto-tune? Then Starpoint is the EP for you. Matthew and Me (that’s Lucy Fawcett) have crafted four tracks of spare and spectral alt-rock and Ben Howard collaborator Chris Bond has handled the production. Vinyl and CD.

Daunt
Unbearable Light

Chiselled Londoner Daunt’s debut EP Unbearable Light is a polite bunch of funky, downtempo electropop. It can be a dreary thing to search for meaningful connections within today’s oppressive, hypermediated urban contexts. Lyrically, such a theme seems to run through each of the songs here. We’re also in for a couple of grandiose choruses on ‘Almost Anything’ and ‘Beamish Boy’. Good for driving - unless you live in London.

Palace
Lost In The Night

Alt-rockers with blues in the heart and soul in their lungs, Palace are set to release their first ever EP, 'Lost In The Night'. The Londoners mix and match guitars that are floaty and meditative with louder, rawer excursions that reminisce over bands like Buffalo Springfield. Should be good, because everybody gets the blues, right?
