IVVVO
Theories of Anxiety

The latest from Terrain Ahead co-founder IVVVO, Theories Of Anxiety does what it proclaims on the tin. Dream sequences and snatched glimpses of melody swoop in and out of earshot whilst a warped techno template holds the wayward compositions together. Dark and distant sounds from just beyond the dancefloor. Out on vinyl 12” from Danse Noire.

J.G. Biberkopf
Fountain Of Meaning

Jacques Gaspard Biberkopf has come to light as a co-conspirator on Kuedo’s Knives label, but now he’s been snapped up by Aisha Devi to contribute a five track EP to Danse Noire. It’s an intriguing trip through operatic emoting, outernational exploration, ambience and texture, and Devi herself appears on “The Illusion Of Solidity”.

GIL
Orchids & Wasps

Please welcome new producer GIL, presenting their debut EP on the Danse Noire imprint. Orchids & Wasps gets busy with some of that sweet mutant club sound, wherein addictive rhythms and samples are stacked up so tall that the listener / dancer becomes ecstatically overwhelmed. J.G. Biberkopf and Imaabs both try to mitigate the chaos with remixes.

Random Gods
Genezon.avi EP

First ever solo release from Portugal’s Random Gods right here, casting his strange sounds onto vinyl with the assistance of a Vaghe Stelle remix. The Genezon.avi EP takes samples from anywhere it can find them, meaning that its grooves are built from a constantly-shifting collage of tones, feelings, meanings. This guy has a real ear for textures as well as rhythms. 12” on Danse Noire.

Aisha Devi
Hakken Dub / Throat Dub

With 2014’s industrial techno revival is it finally time for a Gabba comeback? Not quite. But Aisha Devi takes the pace and abrasion of the genre and cuts through it with her delicate voice and moody drones. If that doesn’t convince you Hieroglyphic Being’s psychedelic editing on the flip make it unmissable. 12” vinyl limited to 300 on Devi’s new Danse Noire imprint.

Haf Haf
This Sick Beat

This Sick Beat is a collection of stumbling techno sounds, from Milanese Haf Haf. Apparently these tracks were put together alongside a physics thesis, and while they don’t quite have the mad rigour of a Mark Fell, they do have a pleasing oddity to them. Includes three original tracks and a remix of one of them by Gatekeeper.

El Mahdy Jr
Gasba Grime

The next missive from the French-Swiss collective Danse Noire run by Aisha Devi comes from the shadowy Algerian producer El Mahdy Jr The release's hypnotic centerpiece "Lost Bridge" emanates an introspective, meditative quality merging lurching rhythms with mournful strings and vocal samples. The EP is rounded out by a stellar remix of "Lost Bridge" from Blackest Ever Black's Killing Sound (Vessel, El Kid, Jabu). The third release on the rising Danse Noire label (Aisha Devi, Vaghe Stelle), El Mahdy Jr's contribution perfectly captures the label's outsider spirit, seeking higher levels of ancestral consciousness by using music as their ritual medium of communication. *play @33 rpm - not at 45rpm as the center label states*
