Industria Tropical

Was Ist Das? continue to stretch far beyond their West Yorkshire home territory to release a collection of South American takes on early Industrial music: a remarkable combination given how grounded in rainy dystopian England the likes of Throbbing Gristle were. The artists on Industria Tropical present a wonderfully fresh sounding spin on the style. Co-released cassette with Pakapi Records.

Kawabata Makoto
In The Lodge of Prince Frederick

Extremely limited edition of 130 orange cassettes from Was ist Das?. Kawabata Makoto breaks away from the rest of the Acid Mothers to push his guitar as far as he can. Spanning 50 minutes, and recorded in Hebden Bridge’s Masonic Hall, In The Lodge of Prince Frederick follows Makoto while his experiments shift slowly from being uplifting and freeing, to dark and lonely.

Natural Snow Buildings
Live At Cragg Vale

Some pork pies of genteel desolation from Natural Snow Buildings. Live At Cragg Vale is a recording that is attempting to capture the depth of these fella's live shows. Full of drones, strings and hypnotic effects, they combine folky harmonies with psychy electronics to creative sweeping gestures, accurately depicting their Yorkshire surroundings on this particular date. Out on cassette tape from Was Ist Das.

Wooden Wand
Ogre 99: Live in Fort Collins

If you like live shows where the crowd is so small that the clapping sounds like it was conjured by five to ten people maximum, 'Ogre 99: Live in Fort Collins' is for you. This personal and breathtakingly private performance sees Wooden Wand performing at Fort Collins, the tape recorder and audience up close with him far out in the distance. It's folk music, and you're in the thick of it. This recording brings to mind live recordings of sit-down shows by artists such as Tim Hardin and Townes Van Zandt.

The Cosmic Dead
Live At The Hebden Bridge Trades Club

It was the sort of night that made you want to padlock the doors and keep the bands trapped in there so they could play again every single fucking night of the year. Cover artwork by the one and only Jake Blanchard. Limited edition of 100 copies. All tapes dubbed direct from the uncompresed master file to cassette at normal speed for maximum listening pleasure. Full dynamic range recording so turn up the volume.
