Ascetic House Vinyl, CD & tapes from this label at Norman Records
Mmmmm, who among us doesn’t love a good dirge? These particular Organ Dirges were composed and recorded by Kali Malone, using the pipe organ at Stockholm’s Royal College Of Music. It is an incredibly magical instrument, and Kali uses its unique tones to glorious effect: slow melodies worked into long drones. New vinyl release on Ascetic House, following an ultra-rare cassette outing last year.
House Of Kenzo’s Bonfires of Urbanity EP originally dropped in 2017 via Rabit’s excellent Halcyon Veil imprint. Now a souped-up version is being reissued on tape by Ascetic House (Boy Harsher, Varg). The three originals are a bracing mix of Vogue, Ballroom, power electronics, industrial noise, hardcore punk, glitchtronica and more. Imagine Government Plates-era Death Grips had a go at a Marilyn Manson cover, and then that was remixed by Total Freedom. Sort of. Anyway, this new version also contains remixes from #FEELINGS member Ben Aqua and a collab between Rabit and Der Kindestod.
Grim noise for grim times from Horoscope who makes a racket which has drawn comparisons to the likes of Prurient and Pharmakon. These swathes of textured noise, low end loops and field recordings are an ode of sorts to the bustling metropolis known as the Big Apple. That's New York City to you and me.
