Phil Pratt & Friends
The War Is On Dub Style

Back in the 80s, Bethnal Green studio Easy Street was one of the hubs of the UK reggae scene, cutting dubs for artists like Sugar Minott and Alton Ellis. Phil Pratt recorded the tracks for The War Is On Dub Style back in Jamaica with a band who numbered Sly & Robbie among its ranks, but overdubs and mixing was done at Easy Street. The LP has become a highly sought-after 80s dub album on the vinyl black market, in part thanks to its trademark rough-and-ready Easy Street sound, but now it can be yours for a standard fee courtesy of a reissue from Pressure Sounds.

Philip Fullwood
Words In Dub

Pressure Sounds are good at what they do. They comb the annals of Jamaican music to find the best lost records, fix up the audio quality and send them back out into the world for a new generation to enjoy. The latest PS reissue is of Philip Fullwood’s ultra-rare 1979 LP Words In Dub. Assisted by Winston McKenzie, the Burning Spear-affiliated artist lays down eight tough dubs full of hiss and crackle.

I-Mo-Jah
Rockers From The Land of Reggae

Concurrently with their re-release of Philip Fullwood’s Words In Dub LP, Pressure Sounds (Peter Tosh, The Upsetters) are also dropping this rare-ass record he made with his I-Mo-Jah collective in 1982. Fullwood assembled a group that included Sly & Robbie, Aston ‘Family Man’ Barrett and Eric ‘Bingi Bunny’ Lammont to lay down Rockers From The Land of Reggae. The result is some deep dub science - ‘Weepin And Wailing’ is beautifully sad.

Bunny Lee & The Aggrovators
Super Dub Disco Style

Heavyweight reissue from Pressure Sounds here. Bunny Lee’s 1979 LP Super Dub Disco Style was tracked at King Tubby’s studio and mixed at Channel One. Ballasted by an all-star band featuring Jackie Mittoo, Sly & Robbie and a few others, Lee hits the sweet-spot between soundsystem heaviness and experimental atmospherics. Tracks like ‘The Dub Specialist’ bring together the sounds of Kingston with American soul, funk and disco influences.

Tommy McCook & The Aggrovators
Super Star-Disco Rockers

Pressure Sounds continue on their 2018 reissue tip with this pressing of Tommy McCook & The Aggrovators 1977 LP Super Star/Disco Rockers. A cornucopia of big names - Earl Smith on guitar, Tubby and Jammie engineering, Sly & Robbie covering the rhythm section, the list goes on - provide rocksteady grooves and dense fogs of delay over which McCook blows his horn.

Lloyd Parks & We The People
Meet The People

Another classic reissue - this time from the masterful Lloyd Parks, known for his work with the Termites. Recorded in 1978 together with his band We the People and recorder/producer Joe Gibs, Meet the People has become a reggae classic, despite its small-scale release, and comes highly recommended to anybody looking to complete their collection of Jamaican goodness.

This particular record by dub mastermind King Tubby and studio backing band legends The Aggrovators (with Bunny Lee at the producer controls!) has never ever been reissued, leaving only the original 1982 pressing floating around. Now though, everyone can get Dubbing In The Back Yard, thanks to this LP reissue on Pressure Sounds.
