Nook is the second full-length album to be recorded by German band, The Notwist and was originally released in 1992. Nook is an example of their early sound which took in elements of heavy metal and dark indie rock rather than their later electronica sound for which they are more well known.

The Notwist were formed in 1989 in Germany. The band's first few albums could be classed as heavy metal or dark indie rock. 12, their third album from 1995 is regarded as being the point of transition from their early dark, guitar-driven sound to their later more acclaimed electronica sound.

On their fourth album, Shrink, German indie band The Notwist made a departure from their early punk days. It was the first album by the band to include more experimental sounds, embracing electronica, ambient sounds and even a bit of jazz. Shrink was originally released in 1998.
