Pieces of a Man was Gil Scott-Heron’s debut album and was originally released in 1972. This reissue has been taken from the original master tapes. Pieces of a Man includes some of Gil Scott-Heron’s best and best known tracks such as The Revolution Will Not Be Televised and Lady Day and John Coltrane.

I don’t know about you, but I was not super familiar with Japan’s funk / soul / disco music history before encountering this fine compilation curated by Howard Williams. But Lovin’ Mighty Fire lays it all out to be enjoyed. There are some fantastic groovy cuts here from artists like Rie Nakahara and Mari Natsuki, gathered onto one CD or two LPs. On the BGP Records label.
Re-issue of the classic 1974 compilation originally released to capitalise on his success with the track 'the Bottle'. The CD version contains nine extra tracks, the original spoken word version of the title track and edited versions of some of his poems. The vinyl version is an exact replica of the original release packaged in a heavy duty sleeve.
