Merry Airbrakes
Merry Airbrakes

Bluesman Watermelon Slim has had a number of other careers ranging from newspaper reporter to petty criminal, all of which make him sound like an interesting character. His first foray into music was under the name Merry Airbrakes. He recorded one self-titled album which kinda ploughs a psych-folk furrow. LP and CD, both limited to 500 copies each, on Scissor Tail Editions.

Chuck Johnson
Blood Moon Boulder

Bespoke label Scissor Tail (Scott Hirsch, Matthew Sage) release the third LP from guitarist Chuck Johnson. Blood Moon Boulder is a record that’s every bit as portentous as its title would suggest. Across the six long, winding instrumentals here Johnson weds the sonorous fingerpicking style of John Fahey and Ry Cooder with the Southern Gothic flex of early Nick Cave.

Charlie Hall from War On Drugs, Purling Hiss mainman Mike Polizze and critically acclaimed harpist, Mary Lattimore feature in Rosali’s backing band, making an album that displays musical lushness and riffs in equal measure.
