John Beltran / Mark Archer / Future Beat Alliance / Max 404
Alaska Swimming Gear offshoot De:tuned (Luke Vibert, David Morley) celebrates a decade of throwing parties and releasing records with this celebratory EP. When you see that the artist roster for DE:10.03 runs John Beltran, Mark Archer, Future Beat Alliance and Max 404 then you know that you’re in good hands. These are crisp, melodic jams that flit between acid house, techno and electro with abandon. Archer’s ‘Depth From Within’ is particularly lovely.
As One / Sensurreal / Jedi Knights
To celebrate their 10th anniversary, Belgian label and promoted De:tuned are released a bunch of 12"s. The first of these features the work of As One, both as producer and remixer. Here he tackles tracks by Sensurreal and Jedi Knights.
To keep you coming back for more the artwork is just one part of a three by three display you can create if you buy them all.
Sun Electric / Higher Intelligence Agency / Deepchord
De:tuned has been around for ten years now, putting out new releases by some of the greats of 90s idm and techno, and the Belgians are celebrating with a tasty little anniversary EP called DE:10.02. They've invited dub techno veteran Deepchord, psychedelic ambient astronaut Higher Intelligence Agency, and idm/techno duo Sun Electric to weigh in, creating a diverse trip across the refined edge of electronic music.
A career spanning over 25 years has seen Michigan born John Beltran release ten albums, appearing on Apollo, R&S, Peacefrog, Delsin and a ton of EPs on the likes of Ubiquity, Styrax Leaves, Exceptional and recently Fourtet's Text label.
For his eleventh full-length he arrives on Belgium's De:tuned label with his usual high quality, soulful, emotion loaded style of deep techno and house. We can hear his formative influences of early Detrot techno and Chicago House, particularly in the Larry Heard/MrFingers inspired 'The Returning Dance. 180g vinyl, mastered by Matt Colton.

Luke Vibert has been at this long enough to earn legendary status, right? Especially if you throw his Plug and Wagon Christ releases into the mix. Arcadia is his new 12” which mixes funky acid with uptempo electro underpinned by 303 basslines. It was mastered by Matt Colton at Alchemy and has artwork by The Designers Republic. On Belgian label De:tuned
As legend - ok, the press release - has it, UK techno vet Kirk Degiorgio was rooting around in a box of his old DAT tapes one day and ended up stumbling on some unreleased stuff from his Future/Past project. These included a version of his R&S classic ‘Hyperspace’ and the distortion-heavy acid-funk jam ‘Cosmos’. They come pressed here along with two Future/Past pieces that have never made it to vinyl before - chirpy electro jam ‘Locator’ is the pick of the pair.
De:Tuned released Brainbox in 2016 feature a huge array of artists, now they are revisiting a handful of those tracks and have remixes of B12 and Scanner tracks from The Black Dog, Future/Past, and Mark Broom. Plus an exclusive new track from The Future Sound Of London, all neatly tied together with artwork by DJ Food. Done and done.
Covert II is an unusual compilation in that you don’t get to know which artists are appearing on it. That’s right, the five producers behind these acidic electro jams remain anonymous, meaning that you’ll just have to judge each track on its own merits, won’t you? 12” EP, released as a benefit for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Various (B12, µ-Ziq, Meat Beat Manifesto, Ø, Mike Dred, Deepchord, Cristian Vogel, Locust, etc.)
Belgium's De:tuned present a mammoth box set containing six slabs of 180g wax. Peep that line-up!
All tracks are previously unreleased - a mixture of music especially written for this compilation, plus some tracks recovered from 90s DAT tapes and a few more recent productions. Ambient, techno, IDM, broken beat and drum & bass royalty in full force.
Mastered by Matt colton. Edition of 300 numbered copies with sticker for your record box + digital download.
