Indie Rock/Alternative Rock can mean so very many things. The Megaphonic Thrift encapsulate this. Plucking parts from noisy experimentation with rhythms and noises from guitar scrapes and pedals to multi-layered hypnotic and effect drowned vocals. Sometimes you don’t know what the hell is making that sound.. But it’s bloody nice.
Hair eh? What would we do without it. The Hairs are a freak-pop collective showing influences ranging from comic books to K Records to houseplants to Flying Nun to anxiety to prison stays. Sounds very promising indeed and the sort of crazy unique thing you may have read about in Bananafish circa '92.

Shark? make indie in Brooklyn, NY, and their Debbie and Becky EP squeezes six tracks onto its twelve inches. These songs are led by guitars, naturally enough, slightly raspy male vocals sitting above them. ‘Hate Crime Girl’ was reportedly inspired by performance artist Chris Burden, but I can’t say I see the same level of innovation here. On Old Flame.
