If the facts that they are called Hoggs Bison and have a song called ‘Milk Milk Lemonade’ hadn’t signposted it to you already, there’s a sense of fun to the debut LP from this Bristol math-rock trio. The grooves are more playful than those of many of their contemporaries, and the guitar playing is impressively melodic without ever getting too showy. Shellac and Heavy Vegetable come to mind.
Hreda have been described by Drowned in Sound as post-rock and grandiose, intricate as lace and heavier than their peers Explosions in the Sky. Hailing from Oxford, they are presented here on 7” vinyl with two of their fantastic tracks, "Minnows" and "Dead Horses". For fans of Don Cabellero and Mogwai.
