Nero's Neptune Vinyl, CD & tapes from this label at Norman Records
Paul Metzger lays out two more side-long improvisations, working as usual with customised string instruments. A 23-string banjo and a guitar with extra strings (for more drone resonance) and a cymbal (!) attached are the instruments he uses here. Remarkable, inventive performances. 1300 is out on Nero’s Neptune.
Reissue of Michael Yonkers debut record, first released in 1973 (and recorded in 1969). Grimwood sounds like a classic folk record from that period, but there is a certain oddity to it as well. Yonkers’ vocals waver with an uncertain vibrato, and his songs are an intimate direct line to his mind. Re-pressed by the Nero’s Neptune label.
