Finnish shoegaze. That’s the headline. Ystavat Hamaran Jalkeen is the debut album from Tyynyt. The comparisons to Slowdive are inevitable; waves of woozy guitar, reverb and echo sprawling all over the place and vocals which sound like a Finnish Rachel Goswell and Neil Halstead. It's great stuff and really captures that '90s, original shoegaze feel.
Sin Cos Tan is a duo featuring Juho Paalosmaa of Villa Nah, and producer Jori Hulkkonen. Hailing from distant Finland, they’ve made a bunch of slick club tracks and pressed them to wax from Smile Tomorrow Will Be Worse. Dancefloor tunes with Jori’s vocals soaring above the synths. On Solina.
Serene synth-pop sung in hushed tones that sounds like it's all been heard through the grapevine, Sin Cos Tan have been whispering deserved hits for a minute now, and Blown Away refuses to tinker with the formula, bringing together bright synths with quietly unravelling guitar licks and totally pleasant beats. Have a good time, please.
