Atmosphere
Seven's Travels

Vinyl re-issue of 'Seven’s Travels', the break-out album from Minnesotan hip-hop duo Atmosphere originally released in 2003. More light-hearted and less overtly stern than its immediate predecessor, the previous year’s 'God Loves Ugly', it’s an opportunity to revisit a critical point in the group’s journey.

Atmosphere
God Loves Ugly

Way back in 2002, Atmosphere's 'God Loves Ugly' was doing the emo rap thing long before it became the chart topping behemoth it is in 2019. Back then it was a bit more independent, a bit more raw. A record as interesting for fans of 2000s hip hop as it is for those who are fans of Juice WRLD and his ilk.

Atmosphere
When Life Gives You Lemons, You Paint That Shit Gold (10 Year Anniversary Edition)

This thing’s ten years old already?! Blimey, that came around quick. With When Life Gives You Lemons, You Paint That Shit Gold, Atmosphere solidified their rep as one of the foremost duos in underground rap. In fact, this album was so successful that the group were briefly a very much overground act - the record shifted 36,000 units in the USA in the first week alone. The combination of Ant’s pretty post-bap beats and MC Slug’s new penchant for narrative storytelling remains winning a decade on.

Aesop Rock & TOBACCO
Malibu Ken

Who knew we needed Tobacco, frontman for Black Moth Super Rainbow, to build fascinating and nauseating beats for Aesop Rock? Tobacco's solo stuff strays from the relatively poppy sound of BMSR towards darker beats and stranger worlds, perfectly built for Aesop Rock. The word-heavy New-Yorker turned San-Franciscan as always delivers high-paced raps on their new collaboration Malibu Ken.

Atmosphere
Mi Vida Local

Mi Vida Local is the seventh album from long time "alt-rappers" Atmosphere. It's coming up on three decades now that the duo of Slug and Ant have been practicing their craft, but more importantly it's been two years since their last album. America's last two years have been troubled and in response the band have turned to their local community, to create something warm, familiar, and defiant.

Atmosphere
Overcast!

Overcast! by Atmosphere was originally released back in 1997 - that’s a whole twenty years ago now. Since then the debut by the Minneapolis hip-hop group has become a bit of an underground classic. It features both of the group’s original rappers, Slug and Spawn, the latter left some three years later, along with producer, Ant. This reissue marks the first time it has been released on vinyl.

Brother Ali
All The Beauty In This Whole Life

Brother Ali is wrapped up in a swirling tunnel of his own emotions. All The Beauty In This Whole Life embodies a perfect illustration of that state - each lyric is developed to either "reflect beauty, or expose ugliness", in Ali's own words. This is evocative hip-hop in its most socially conscious and candid form.

Atmosphere
Frida Kahlo vs. Ezra Pound

The material packaged together on Frida Kahlo vs. Ezra Pound was previously issued only digitally, but these Atmosphere tracks are just too damn strong to deny physicality to. Now they are available as a CD or, if you feel fancy, a box set of seven 7” records, with instrumental versions on the B-sides. On Rhymesayers.

Atmosphere
Fishing Blues

Minneapolis hip-hop veterans Atmosphere show no signs of slowing down, dropping new full-length Fishing Blues right off the back of a set of 2015 singles. Slug’s rhymes are crafty, Ant’s productions are slick, and the times are good. Fishing Blues is available on CD or as a bonanza-sized thick-cut triple LP set, courtesy of Rhymesayers.

Aesop Rock
The Impossible Kid

Aesop Rock’s first solo full-length since 2012 is The Impossible Kid, and it swings and flows very fine indeed. The dude produced the whole record as well as carrying off the MC duties, and he shows his indie credentials by name-checking Einsturzende Neubauten and The Peel Sessions. The vinyl edition is pressed to 1 green and 1 pink LP, and both vinyl and CD come with a double-sided poster.

Atmosphere
Southsiders

These guys are about pushing limits, exploring the limits of rap. Even though they are Southsiders, they want to take it above and beyond directions, and through the Atmosphere. And they’re offering you the chance of a lifetime to be part of that expedition. There’s really no way you can say no.
